My conversations with other people always turn towards weaponizing the original conversation topic. Particularly bizzare for me when they hate on my kitten cannons, or my efforts to turn biology class into a discussion of zombie frogs on fire.

When navigating Excel spreadsheets as work I constantly find myself depressing the shift key.

That should work....

Also whenever someone asks me how I am I immediately say "[Ivan] has been quite content recently..." before listing some of the things going on in my life.

When I close my eyes I see ASCII. Then I keep them closed and pretend that I'm playing a well-established succession game.

The boss made a run to costco for supplies for the kitchen (plates and napkins and such)

A caravan has arrived.

Your entire fortress office has run out to each grab one item and haul it to the stockpile.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

... I became engrossed in a Wikipedia article on Metallurgy and spent the entire day reading it. And liked it. And now am looking for books to read further.

...I'm fascinated by the Anglo-Saxon pagan religion from which modern fantasy dwarves were derived.

It's actually quite interesting as a whole religion, but also for how the dwarves fit into it.  The dwarves were originally thought of as a branch of elves (spirits) based around the creation of things, rather than the care of things like wood-elves or sea-elves. That's why the dwarves were thought of as master-smiths, and why Tolkein portrayed them as such.

It's hard to really explain, since I'm still fairly new to the religion, but it is interesting to read about.

You forgot the tearing of the left lower arm's skin while skidding. New feature.

But my skin wasn't torn, and I didn't skid. Ruined my shirt though.

There was this one time with the bouncy jogger.... I still have that scar lol.
