Neither have I.  That's why the so called SUperhuman AI is kicking my ass.  Remember that it's not any smarter, the aliens are just tougher and more numerous to make up for it.

Or course in any other game this would be sensible.  XCOM has some AI years ahead of it's fucking time in the kind of bullshit the game can pull off.

We landed and the soldiers received their briefing.



The men set out on their grim duty.

"Shit, it's dark," someone at the back complained.
"Hot damn," Carl muttered. "We landed right next to it!"

"And there's a gray thing outside!"

"Guys, guys! I found the edge of the world!" TIM declared.

Emperor checking to the west and ducked by a fence.

"Carl, out of the way," Mulch commanded, revving up his autocannon.

Let's look at the spread of the map. Alien bits were splattered as I checked the map. While I was checking, a plasma blast flew past Carl. "I think that came from behind the ship!" he yelled, ducking.

"I have found the alien!" WorkerDrone yelled.

Master of subtlety there.

"FOR THE EMPEROR!" Wasn't Emperor off to the west, though?

Meanwhile, SniperJoe came. He saw. He conquered.

Damn. That was fast.

Emperor, meanwhile, was attacking the darkness in response to a plasma blast that had flown past Jackrabbit to the east.

That map is centered on where I think he was aiming. We're still not sure.

Jackrabbit, meanwhile, approached further, dual laser pistols in hand.
... God he's awesome.

Emperor continued to display his ability to aim.

WorkerDrone charged alongside Jackrabbit, backed up by SniperJoe.

Carl, in the meantime, flanked their enemy and told them where to fire


WorkerDrone and SniperJoe both fired, but it took both of them to wipe out the resilient alien.
And by resilient, we mean small.

Meanwhile, Jackrabbit had split off to the side and found another alien, explaining a second source of enemy fire they'd seen.

It would be hard to miss at this range, and Jackrabbit did not disappoint, alternating fire between his two pistols until the alien fell.
GOD HE'S AWESOME.

TIM provided Fire support for no apparent reason.

At least it wasn't so dark.

Jackrabbit swept the buildings with WorkerDrone and Carl

Meanwhile, Sniper Joe returned to the UFO on a whim and discovered something.
Something other than that Emperor had blown himself up, that is. That made three deaths....

Now, promotions. Hmmm... well... Sniper Joe got two kills and breached the UFO twice...

But Jackrabbit has dual laser pistols. Sorry, Sniper Joe.

Let's get them a new toy to take their minds off of their fallen comrades... if they can even remember their comrades' names.

Also, with the loss of brave Kashyyk, Emperor, and Carl's brother Carlos, we're going to see if we can't turn these damned things into some kind of armor.

In the meantime, though, their toys.
