Can you put a stockpile on a pressure plate? Put a plate under each tile of your booze stockpile, so each drink results in spikes shooting up. Either that or put one along each path to your various food/booze/ammo/etc. stockpiles.

I don't know if you can put a stockpile on a pressure plate, but I do know that you can put pressure plates in meeting areas.  This kept me highly amused in a previous fort...

Maximum Fun Chamber?

1) dig chamber
2) lure your enemies on bridge over it
3) lock them with well HIDDEN switch
4) throw them down to your FUN chaber
5) let them fight with some nasty STUFF that lives on bottom of your chamber

This is a masterful adamantine engraving. On the wall is an image of a goblin. The goblin is screaming.

Construct a long "waterslide, one-tile wide but going down several z-levels, like so:
Code: [Select]
Sourced water -> X_ ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~_ ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~_ ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~_ ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~_ ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~_ ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~_-> Reservoir or chasm.

~ = Stone
X = Flood gate.
_ = Floor with pressure plate.

Link the top pressure plate to the flood gate at the top. Link the intermediate pressure plates to spikes.

Set correctly, the pressure plate will constantly open and close the floodgate, causing waves of water to descend the waterslide, activating each floodgate in turn. This can be used to create waves of spikes protruding from the floor. One good thing about floodgates is that they can be set to retract the spikes when they don't have water on them.

If you link a lever up to a spike trap, then (P)ull the Lever on Repeat, the dwarf who comes to operate the lever will hammer it back and forth rapidly, causing sufficient oscillation to injure, cripple, and then kill most creatures.

I made a long s-shaped 1-unit-wide hallway with 24 spike traps in it all linked to the same lever as the only entrance to the fortress. When goblins came, I put the lever operating the traps on repeat and watch the goblins walk in and die to death.

If you want proper oscillation of your spike traps, you need to hook it up to a water repeater:

The repeater tends to go a little too fast, so modify the design to extend the time between fill and drain.

When they add in more liquids, such as making lakes of booze and whatnot, why not also blood?

Embark on a cold climate such that you can freeze things if left outside.

An entire tower built of frozen goblin and/or elf blood!  ;D
