Awesome.

I'd love it if someone decided to make a "wound generator" that used a number-entry + RNG system to simulate DF-like anatomy wounding... and it then became the standard for RPG's.

"Okay, roll for damage?"

"20."

"Oh, christ, dude. You collapsed his ribcage... and his lungs. Jesus, this thing is cruel."

"I KNOW, RIGHT?"

"I try to pull off his fingernails"
"Lets see, what did you roll?"
 "20"
"Christ... You rip off his arm and bat his head off. Nice going there."
"Jeez... I, uh, throw the chair I am sitting in at the guard to distract him as I run."
 "What did you roll?"
 "14"
 "It caves in his chest."
 "Oh hell!"

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

"Your character is bezerk. Roll."
"umm... ok"
*checks table* "Oh god. You just knocked down that building you were standing next to."
"do I at least calm down yet?"
"No. Now roll to see how far he throws that anvil."

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

"Urist McWizard, I need a healing potion."
"I toss him a potion."
*DM rolls dice and checks table*
"You break his left leg."

Anyway, I think the reason they tend not to make it realistic is that in really life, the fact that you're an experienced mercenary fighting a few badly trained security guards doesn't guarantee that you'll survive. Also, If you're hit, there's a good chance it will kill you no matter what, and even if you're not you won't be fit to fight, so a realistic game would require storming the dungeon without taking any damage whatsoever.

Why does this topic have the word [PEACH] in the title?

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

As for this, go take a look at the warhammer fantasy p&p game. Once you got a little wounded, things could end up being very brutal very fast. You would end up with maybe 2-4 wounds before any attack could start sending random body parts flying. And this could easily happen on the first time you get hit too, just not as likely.
