An ambush... ambushed!
« on: February 06, 2009, 03:34:12 pm »

My Kobold Thrower/Spearer was attacked by a grizzly, but was able to escape by swimming across a pond. Then the Grizzly decided to follow:

And that is how the new religion of the Kobolds, Carpkreegus, was formed.

Holy shit that bear was hard-core.

It tore one in half and tore off 2 heads.
More than I can say for a dwarf, who would merrily jump in the water after the bloody goldfish.

"Yeah. My plan was to drop some kittens into the siege, and have my dwarves freefall into battle, landing on top of the kittens. The plan was kinda dumb though because the kittens were standing on grates, and the goblins killed them with arrows just as I was releasing the freefalling dwarves. So the dwarves weren't able to land on kittens and just fell and died."

Should have made it go into another river. If it got killed it probably would've still killed more Carp. And a dead Carp is always a good thing. ;D

did that actually found a new religion as viewable in legends mode or was that joking?

if so, that is really cool. i knew goblins would worship demons who ruled over them and stuff, and its totally in line with kobolts as the appear to worship big scary kobolt eating toothed things.

even cooler was witnessing it, rather then just reading about it as a worldgen event.

For some reason, river creatures are hostile to land based ones.

And now, some awesome.

a human city was in a nice warm biome that had hippos in the nearby river. along with occasional herds of elephants passing through in addition to every single type of primate.  the hippo/elephant war spilled into the town and many folk were slaughtered.  since the site was a former elven treehome taken over in world creation, a bunch of elf migrants arrived which was disappointing since both groups of warring beasts were not hostile to them.  until the elves arrived, it was the greatest place to be.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

At the intersection of death and awesome.

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

whoa! You should have nursed the bear back to health and made it chase you into the nearest town where it could slaughter all the friendlies.
