I've been trying to play as humans in fortress mode but can't get them to use bows, I've looked everywhere - the wiki says it isn't possible but I read a post where someone suggested changing the weapon raws so bows train crossbow skill.. alas, I can't find the file mentioned. At least as far as I know.

The only file that he might be speaking of is "item_weapon.txt".

EDIT: One thing I thought was odd while looking through the raws was in "creature_standard.txt", specifically "[BOWMAN_NAME:bowdwarf:bowdwarves]" under Dwarves...

Change RANGED:BOW:ARROW to RANGED:CROSSBOW:ARROW.  That should do it.  Also, make human crossbowmen into archers, or something.

I will try that, thanks for the reply. To your second point, I assume just by adding "[CROSSBOWMAN_NAME:archer:archers]" to "creature_standard.txt" under human will do the trick... I shall post back with results!
