Dwarven Females
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:37:56 am »

No, this isnt a topic about wether dwarven females should have beards, or wether the dwarven males should take care of the kids, this is a topic about what dwarven females are called, when refering to their gender. Male and female just wont do, man and woman is more of a human thing, im thinking the word dwarf would be fine for males, "Hey urist, that dwarf over there just called your mother a soaper, lets go hammer him!" But what about females? Dwarfete?

Dwarf is unisex, like human, elf, goblin, geek, etc...

No need for a specific term for women. =)

From "Angroshs Kinder" Das schwarze Auge Zwergenhandbuch - (Angrosh Children, the dark eye, german pen&paper, dwarven handbook):
"Elves!? Their men dont wear beards, and their women bathe nacked to lure you into the water and drown you. Thank Angrosh they are as ugly as the day and all big and skinny."

You could look up the appropriate dwarven language words for man and woman in the language_DWARF raw.

You know, dwarfette is simply the word dwarf with the feminine diminutive ending -ette from French, so the word would make sense if these were French dwarves.

French dwarfs? The legends screen would be filled with wars that they surrendered.

I think your views on french history are a bit askew. The french revolutionary wars, the Napoleonic wars, its heavy assistance in the american revolutionary war, the thirty years war. I'm not saying they didn't have defeats and surrenders, just that France wasn't always what it is today.

I'd go with dwarfess if you felt you had to use a different word than dwarf. I think dwarf should be gender neutral, myself.

Those first two examples are the French fighting against... the French, and the French being lead by a non-French commander.  Who still lost.<asnide>

Yeah, I'm thinking dwarf is gender neutral.

The french revolutionary wars:
The name may be misleading. France's government was overthrown in an internal revolt, then that new government declared war on several different nations of Europe. It was just ten days after the new government executed Louis the XVI that France declared war on Great Britain and the Netherlands.

.... I actually had nothing else to add.

MyLittlePonyBuiltMyHotRod, this is your first warning. I would like to direct you to read our forum's FAQ and posting guidelines before posting again. Specifically we don't use swear words here, and your picture of Stalin riding a Year3 Limited Edition Starflower inside a German concentration camp was both upsetting and historically inaccurate.

From the dwarf language raws:

man = udos
woman = aral

Also, strangely enough, as far as I can see there is no dwarven word for dwarf (or elf or human or goblin).
