Umm... Impending doom? Heavy lasers are not really that good... you would be better off with a laser rifle or waiting till Heavy plasma.

Well okay, they ARE good against sectopods but that's really it.

Again, what could be more awesome than a gun that makes rapid fire explosions?  I keep using a couple even after I get heavy plasmas, since they're still useful for clearing cover without wasting more valuable ammo.
