no, I just would like Dwarfcompressor, or the DF map compressor, or whatever.

I can, however, give you a room underneath the barrels, and make it so that your room falls into the bottomless pit...

sounds like fun! I'd rather not release it until I'm safely coffinized inside it, however...  :P

I was really thrown off when I saw "LEGO" and "Lord" in that second update.  I think I'll request a dwarf.

Name:  LegoLord, Chemist
Proffession:  Mechanic/furnace operator/all skills that are necessary for glassmaking.

He is annoyed to find out that Lord Castellan is frequently called LEGO and Lord EGO.  He does work on fuel systems, ignition, windows, etc.

or I could simply lock your dwarf in the 'beer cellar' and press the ingition key. I need a way to make the 'spaceflight' exciting when it happens.

15th Hematite: Memoirs of Issac

Our cats have been very busy. I’ve been finding dead warblers and fairies all over the place. Dangerous things, they are. Just looking outside, I can see swarms of warblers. They also seem to get into my blueprints.

4th Malachite:

The Kobold Thief moved about the mountains, when he spied a developing village north of his location. He crept up to the village, his eyes on a nice bauxite toy that the craftsdwarf, a BTI investor by the looks of things, had made. The thief crept to the toy, but was ambushed by several loud dogs. A dog bit his next, and the thief blacked out.

YupDies’s diary:

I was carving a barrel for storage, when a Thief appeared near the stockpile! I grabbed my axe, and ran to the thief, but the dogs beat me to it. Issac is already holding a meeting tonight, I don’t want to miss it.

11th Malachite: Memoirs of Issac

Dang it! Another thief! I tried to talk about getting some wardogs trained, but no one knew how to do it! Finally, the BTI investor agreed to give things an attempt. I think with a few wardogs, we will be much safer from Thieves.

7th Galena: The Mountainhomes

“What do you mean we can’t send immigrants!?!” Demanded the king to the duke.

“Your Majesty, I might have had men prepared if I was told this earlier, but the earliest I can send Dwarves to this… project of yours is… late Autumn.”

The King glared glumly. “Very well. I’m told that this new fort has acquired wealth, so I hope that’s inspiration!”

The duke left the room with a bow.

1st Limestone: BTI investor’s log

We don’t have a trade Depot yet! What kind of palce is this? Issac says there are stones in the way, but they don’t look that big! I told him to build a makeshift one, so I’m seeing how that will go.

15th Limestone:

We finished the Depot just as the Caravan arrived! Thank Armok, now we can trade my crafts for anvils and wealth! We also stuck gold. We are rich!!!!! *feints*

Isaac’s Memoirs:

The Caravan arrived, along with a gold vein and a thief. While checking quantities for the blueprint, the liason of the mountainhomes requested that we talk. I requested some good, as I figure it will be a couple of years before the ship itself can be built. Lord EGO asked for some parts for a Vox unit, or whatever that is. His armour appears to be of a superior quality, so I would assume these Vox things are from where he is from. I inquired as to what these Vox units are, but he kept on throwing terms that I didn’t understand, so I asked him to draw a diagram a blueprint, but he simply shrugged, saying that he was a marine, not an engineer. I pretended to understand.

6th Sandstone:

I talked with the Caravan. Although the king sent them, they were looking for a profit. So, I gave them the BTI investor’s toys, as well as the Kobald clothing, for an anvil, mating pairs for the donkey and horse, and a new pick. I think it’s time to go searching for magma.

I’ve also designated rock to be turned into rooms – for nobles and lower class. I think the renounded individuals should also gain these rooms of prestige. I really have a bad feeling about the taller one. I’ll have to have a talk with him, over a keg of Dwarven Ale.

20th Sandstone: Jagex’s diary

Lord Castellan has been acting… odd lately, muttering something a bout a Vox something. I’ve been ignoring him, namely because of all of the fire snakes around here. Lord C just steps in them, like the fire doesn’t affect him at all. Weird. Well, Isaac says that we are going to forge him a sword when the forges are up and running, so Castella can devote his time to more useful pursuits.

23rd Sandstone:

I’ve reached a hot rock, just after a cluster of Citrines. I dare not go further. Also, I can hear some new voices from outside…

25th Sandstone: Memoirs of Isaac

Well, we got some immigrants today, from the king no doubt. We got a carpenter, A ranger named Homophone, a metalsmith (assigned miner), and Armorer (assigned mason), Frodo the butcher/bone carver, a leatherworker (assigned farmer), and a peasant, Hal 1500 (another farmer). Crispin and Sareika got their promised career changes, though I had to tell the eager Lord Castellion that he would have to wait a while longer before he could wield a sword, as we had no-one he could spar against.

17th Timber:

Homophone, our hunter, has been busy giving us some much-needed meat. The Venison here beats the tower cap buscuits back at Von Urist, by far. Frodo is really helping out in the meat industry by carving that meat to Deer-steaks. Hal 1500 has also been busy, but for some reason always has the time to beat me at Dwarf-chess. Hmm…

3rd Moonstone: a secret meeting under the city of Von Urist

The Baron frowned towards the Kobald, who stood shorter than him. “What do you mean you can’t handle dogs!!!” Shouted the Baron. The Kobald, obviously fearing its life, replied “We are trying, but they all catch us! One man managed to escape, but with a Dwarf with a huge steel axe not far behind!”  The Baron nodded, then looked out the window. “ Try harder. You will not get paid until you bring me back some of their equiptment.” And the Kobald left. The Baron then pushed a lever, and went in an elevator back to his office, where he sat in his chair, wondering when he would get the stockpile report.

27th Obsidian: In the fort courtyard

Frodo had just been given another deer to carve up as Homophone returned from hunting. He had been told that the fortress had existed for a year, and the fort still needed to locate the magma tube and the pit. He tried to start a conversation with Homophone, but when Homophone began speaking about his cross-bough, Frodo cut short the conversation, and began carving up the deer with his knife. Looking nearby, he saw Issac talking to the behemoth of a Dwarf, Lord Castellion, as he demanded himself to be called.

The conversation between Isaac and the Space Marine:

Isaac saw the Lord Castellion sitting on a rock, muttering to himself, and banging a rock against the ground. Issac was a bit of a consular, so he sat next to the behemoth of a Dwarf.
“You seemed troubled.”
“It’s none of your business.”
“Listen, if anyone can understand your woes, or what not, it’s likely me.”
Castellion looked around. “It’s too public out here anyway. I think you should try having a private office first. Then we will talk. I’m not to keen on talking publicly.”
Isaac nodded, but still had the feeling there was something different, sinister even, about Castellion. I couldn’t place it.

At the Mountain homes:

The King sat on his throne. He was thinking, peacefully, when the Baron entered the room, with two armed guards. The king barely opened his mouth when the guards fired their crossbows at the king. The Queen had been looking in when they did this, and waited until the Laughing Baron Von Urist left before she summoned the Royal guard to lock up the Baron. The Queen took her new place on the throne, and debated her next move.

>Log #2 837 M41:

This place is starting to grate on me. And as the damn dogs from the Imperial Guard keep saying, 'an angry Astartes makes for a blood bath.' None the less, I shall control myself inspite of the fact that these Sub-Humans keep refering to me as a Dwarf. Or whatever that is. These Squats are fairly annoying, but they are managable, sturdy, and tough, for sub-humans...but none the less, they can comprehend the idea of space traval, though perhaps not the entire idea, but don't know how to constuct a simple Vox Unit, whetalone comprehend what it is!

But I won't let it stop me. I'm sure I can dig out the memory of it. At least tell them how to cope with the Machine-Spirit. But their machine skills are so limited, it will take time...so I will have to wait before I get the chance at contacting Imperial vessels. The Emperor and Dorn will guide me until then, for I am one of their chosen ones, a Black Templar till the end.

We encountered one of the Xeno races recently. Filthy creatures aswell. But they were slain like the dogs they are. They could be a form of Sub-Human, but they look too alien to have even possibly come to that. Even these Squats are civilized. But I am no Squat, or 'Dwarf' as they say. I am the Emperor's chosen, and among the guided race.

They shall yet know the true glory of the Emperor. Or they shall die. But, first...I need to get contact with my Battle-Brothers.

I would love to be involved in this. Dwarf Fortress Star-ships are some of the best projects to embark on. For the next immigration perhaps you could work in this character?

Name: Auril Thundercloud
Gender: Female
Profession: Preferably a noble but if not, give her a desk job as a record keeper or a diplomat or whatever els you need.

An underling of the baron with a soft spot for cats, Auril was sent to the star-ship with the intention of spying on the project. Her mission is to make scheduled reports to other agents who travel in caravans who will then report back to the Baron while constantly thinking sabotage. With the Baron now jailed, perhaps she is acquired by the queen as an asset, or perhaps someone els.

FYI, some of you are dead. And some of you (Namely, Lord Castellion whats-his-name) are in love. Try logging that!

18th Granite: Log of the BTI investor:

The elven caravan arrived, and all we have are four pigtail vests? This is an embarrassment! How can we fund out project without useful resources?

Memoirs of Isaac:

Well, the elves know we are here. Although I’m not too fond of them, and would rather lock them up and watch them go insane, our elf-trap isn’t working yet, and we need good relations until we have the military to fend off anyone. So I’ll go and do some trading. I traded for a tamed deer, as well as some seeds for rope reed and rat weed. With a little work, we could get a couple of new farms going.

23rd Slate: Jagex

I was doing a little mining, when I came upon a limonite seam underground. Issac seemed pleased at the good news, as we would no longer be dependent on the hematite seams outside on the surface once we began the metalsmithing for steel. Also, I hit some more warm stone. The top of the magma pipe is likely one level above me, so I’m going to mine up again. Then, we can look for the bottomless pit while the forges are being made.

8th Felsite: BTI Investor

We caught a warbler! Isn’t it cute? Ok, maybe not. I’m not much of a pet guy. But at least it’s not a purring maggot. I hate purring maggots, yet I like cheese. Hmm… In any case, I wonder who wants a warbler. Say, I wonder when those migrants promised by the king will arrive…

9th Felsite: Memoirs of Issac

Today, we gained some new migrants. The Investor looked relieved, as well as the farmers, and miners, as it would give them an easier time. I’m considering putting some of them in the military. They appear to be spawning from the middle of the mountains, though… Our numbers now have 2 new miners, 2 new woodworkers, an animal caretaker, a weaponsmith, 2 peasants, a cook, tanner, herbalist, and potash maker, a fish disector, 4 new craftdwarves, and 2 new children. We welcomed Flash the Pyro, Carl Sagan the Terraformer, Fredrick the Astrodwarf, Legolord the Chemist (So now we couldn’t joke about Lord C. Being LEGO or Lord EGO), and Morion the weaponsmaster. With two warriors now, we can begin our defenses, so any goblins wanting to disrupt our plans will fail, and indirectly help us. I’ve told all four of our new military recruits, including Lord Castellion, to start with wrestling until we have steel weapons and armour. Fredrick also said he wanted a pet cupcake. I told him a wambler looked like a cupcake. He looked excited. I told him I’d have someone tame it for him.

With children around now, we will need more protection from Wamblers… I mean goblin snatchers. Well, at least the kids are just outside the barracks.

16th Felsite: YupDies notes:

So the new military has been tested today… against racoons. This is annoying, as they gained… medals… for this. I must advance! I must gain status! I will join the military! I am submitting my application and that’s that. Even if I do have to give my axe up for the time being until a new one can be made…

21st Felsite: Memoirs of Issac:

I was talking with one of the immigrants, and apparently, the king was killed. I was shocked, but was relieved a little when he told me that the queen approved of this project, and the Baron Von Urist was locked up. I’ll likely never see him again.

In any case, Hal 1500 and Carl Sagan have been playing chess against each other a lot lately. No clue what that means.

Also, I think I should appoint Lord Castellion as our sheriff. I doubt anyone would break any law at one look at him. I haven’t done it yet, but I’ll likely do it before summer is over.

13th Hematite: Jagex

I heard that humans were spotted in the distance. Lord C seemed excited, I’m not sure whether it’s because of his new title as Sheriff, or if it’s because of the Humans. I guess we all get excited about humans, as they have really great beer, and many goods, including steel. Everyone helped get the goods to the center, even Isaac himself, as well as the farmers.

16th Hematite: Carl Sagan’s last scribble in the mud

I knew my luck was running short, when I was outside, and I came face to face with a small ambush. I tried to run away, but they had bows! I was quickly winded, knocked unconscience, and somehow I still managed to write this… I am dead now.

Isaac:

This is a disaster! They are attacking the caravan with bows! The Guild rep. Was injured, and we lost our new Terraformer, Carl Sagan!  Fortunately, the merchant guards fought them off, but where was our army?

Oh, right… They were standing down and hiding like cowards. Well, I can’t blame them really. They only had their fists, while the goblins had spears and bows. It would have been a massacre! Well, I guess I have to trade now, to make the losses of the humans worth while. Still, you would think Lord Castellian would have fought…

1st Malachite: BTI investor log

I did a little investigation. From an economic standpoint, we have gained more than enough loot to make ourselves millionaires! The loss of one Dwarf who I may have passed once is trivial.

13th Malachite: Javex

I was mining today, when I felt my pick go through the rock… and I could suddenly see the top of the magma pipe. I sent word to the surface. I hear Isaacs going to set up some traps down here to keep us safe from the Imps, but other than that, we should be fine.

19th Malachite:

Fire Man! And yet, Isaac still insists on wooden cages for traps. Something tells me I don’t want to be on the space ship when it’s made…

7th Galena: Memoirs of Isaac

No immigrants came to our fort this season. Also, our wrestlers are real professionals, Legendary even. When our forges are up and running, I hope they can apply this to swords, axes, and hammers.

11th Galena: Jagex

I was digging the channels for the magma, when I hit an unusual snag: I discovered a bottomless pit. There is no big problem, as we can just dig around it. I am a little worried, as there is a lot of cave spider silk. I do no t know if this holds a Giant Cave Spider or not, as I don’t see any GCS silk.

14th Galena

Oh know! There was a Giant Cave Spider!!! I instantly knew when I heard our new cook’s scream echo through the caverns. I ran to the pit, saw he was caught in a hidden web, and ran, telling every able bodiesdman, woman, and child (ok, not children) to set up cage traps.

Memoirs of Isaac:

We’ve lost a second farmer to the cave spider, so I’m banning everyone from taking things from the spider pit until we are ready to take down this beast. This is going to delay our magma forges. We also think there may be a second cave spider 2 levels higher. I think if we catch them both, and keep them in a pen area, we will become very rich…

16th Galena: Sereika’s little scrawl on the floor
I crept into the pit, to gather the cloths of one of my new friends, when the Giant Cave Spider, Senribfak as it’s called,  launched it’s web at me, taking me down. I only had enough time to write this. Blarg.

18th Galena: Isaac’s Memoirs

One of our lesser know stonecrafters has withdrawn from society., and has taken our craft workshop. I hope this is something useful.

19th Galena: Homophone’s galient attempt to put down the spider

Homophone hid behind the wall. His cross bough in hand. He was determined to end the spider’s threat two the fort. So he took a couple of bolts, and jumped in. His shot missed the spider, giving the spider enough time to web the ranger. His screams were heard across the fort. Morion peeked in to see what was happening, but quickly ran off when Isaac told him to stay away. (I’m keeping my eye on this spider, for the safety of my stupid dwarves)
23rd Galena: Notes of the BTI Investor

We have made an artifact! It is speedchannels, a Dolomite Artifact with a picture of a floodgate on it. I think this is a good omen for our magma channels. It’s only worth 18000 though.

Diary of Yupdies

Dear Diary.
Today, I fell in love with Lord Castellion. I think he likes me too, as he blushed when he sparred with me, and seams to be going easy on me. I hope he asks me our on a date soon.
Yupdies
*Anime Scribble of Lord Castellion with hearts*
------------------------
So That’s 5 deaths, including the deaths of Carl Sagan, Homophone, and Sereika. I’ve devised a plan to capture the spider, which is a female. If there are any other spiders, they should impregnate this spider, then I get spiderlings!!!

pictures soon, my internet has been acting up. Basically, I have a pic of the magma pit, and of the cave spider.

Also, anyone who has been killed off can rejoin under a different name.

Also, the sheer irony of Lord C's love makes me want to finish the year more than ever. But I have a succession turn to finish.
