(Succession Game) The Outpost of alehouse.
« on: February 02, 2009, 08:12:02 pm »

Fath Oddomom says that our group, the armored beards will be going to start a new colony, by vote we've decided to cal it alehouse or Mabdugzoden in our native tongue. He sais that there are great mountains bordered by lush forests filled with plenty of trees and beasts, there is a river running through it all completing the picturesque scene. I bet you it won't be so nice and pretty when we get there.
~Sava Rakustimaz, Cook.

Basically this is is a succession game, my first one to be exact. The are we will be playing in is, like described half mountain and half forest with a brook cutting through the mountain, the area is temperate.http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-4534-alehouse. that was a link to the map,

!IMPORTANT!
due to everyone not wanting do wait years for a turn I will only be allowing 3 (three) more people to join, that will give us a grand total of four. it's first come first serve, don't forget to say what order you want to be in, YOU will be playing for 1 year (or four seasons) after that please email me the saved game and a DFMC compressed map so i can upload it, email is available on my profile page.

The order of players will be:
1.Sava2004
2.Haika
3.Vieto
4.Deathstar

it is now sava2004's turn.

Once we have enough players I will begin my first season, once it is your turn you may select a dwarf and name him after yourself, if you do not finish your turn withing 3 days without notifying us here on the forum you will be skipped, if it happens twice in a row you will be kicked out of the game and someone new may join.
you must make an in-character log explaining major events. pictures are not required but greatly appreciated.

Without waiting for the last person I have begun the journey to alehouse.

After a couple of months of riding by caravan through wilderness we have arrived at Alehouse. It's first impression isn't much, a rather small mountain and an small strip of land, definitely not what Fath told us this would be like. I do not have enough time to write as everyone wants me to help them move stone to a stockpile miles away, Fath definitely doesn't understand the basics of stone management.

12 slate, mid spring. Finished our food and wood storadge areas, immediately set Kogan ~our carpenter~ to the task of making beds.

-----------------------------------------------------

2nd Hematite, Early summer. Our 2 miners finished digging out bedrooms for us, we immediately put in the half dozen beds that our carpenter had made, finally! Now we don’t have to sleep on the hard rock floor anymore! Fath, Our leader, has promised us chests and cabinets once we get settled in.

----------------------------------------------------

10th hematite. Early summer, added some more workshops and storadge areas to our main tunnel. This is starting to feel like home. The carpenter has made some barrels and the boys have made me work my beard off brewing alchohol.

--------------------------------------------------

I'm going to bed soon and i'l write more when i wake up.

:) interesting.

I do have a question though, I assume we are using a straight 40d game from the graphics you are using. Are you going to compress and upload the whole game folder with all the init settings attached, or are we allowed to use our own settings for personal preference?

I will only send you the saves and nothing else. As for the game version, Vanilla is recommended. However if you have any small tweaks that barely affect gameplay (ex. cat cancels store item in stockpile: too injured fix) then you are free to use them.

Y'know, I once had a carpenter called Kogan. The third bed he ever mad was a masterpiece. I immediately gave it to my avatar, of course.

Woah, this one seems to be a complete slack off.

back in character now.

3rd limestone, early autumn.
Praise the miners! we've struck platinum, althougth Fath says it will interfere with our moat.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9th limestone, early autumn.
Just like Fath promised us, we've gotten coffers and cabinets in our bedrooms. the woodcutter, being so used to fancy wood chests and cabinets, is complaining about his chest blending in with the walls.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

17th limestone, Early autumn.
A bunch of caravans passed us today, due to the lack of a trade depot on our behalf, and the fact that we don't really have any trade goods, we were forced to let it pass, a real shame that is. now that we've found magnetite we're in real need of an anvil.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9th timber, Late autumn.
Some migrants have arrived! yay! in total we got:
1 ranger
1 peasant
1 bowyer
1 child
1 miller (came with a donkey and a cat)
1 furnace operator
1 fisherdwarf
1 engraver

[OOC]In my couple of month of playing DF this has got to be the most USELESS bunch of immigrants ever, if i could, i'd draft them all.[/OOC]

don't worry, you'll have everything to get the industry started. plenty of rock around here, i made a stockpile close to the caravan and built workshops right beside it.

in character now.

18th opal Mid-Winter,
Our masons have started the construction of a smooth rock road to make a fool proof way for a caravan to reach us, hopefully it will be done in a year or so. On another note, the rain here is almost constant, maybe it is because of the mountain formation, maybe because of the rain forest below. I really don't care where it's coming from but it is really getting on my nerves. also, something weird has happened today, i have lost the will to call myself Sava and have resumed to use my childhood name, Olin. Fath meanwhile has taken up the new role of Sava, i feel like we are being controlled by mysterious forces!
