what about AB standing for "After Bill" (Meaning Bill Gates, of course).  It would probably make him happier enough to lower the price of Windows 0.05 % for the future release.

First of all: Whats the fucking point? Why waste effort on a stupid, completely unrequired change?

Second...
Or we could all just use the Julian Date, if it bothers us that much. We're from the Bay 12 forums, we like complicated things.

No, we should base our system on imaginary numbers. Just to make peoples heads explode every time yo uask "Whats today's date?".

I, for one, think Bill Gates rules, and thinks the other OSs can go sit at Starbucks and write their screenplays and try to be eclectic.

Also, I heard about BCE and CE in seventh grade.  I'm a senior now and I think I've seen dates referred to as such maybe twice.

We should use the Star Trek "stardate" system. Every day we make up a completely random number from 2000-80000 and that's today's date.

I, for one, think Bill Gates rules, and thinks the other OSs can go sit at Starbucks and write their screenplays, type up novels they will never complete, talk to other Mac users on just how awesome their OS is in comparison to others and try to be eclectic.

 Finished that for you.

I say we base the next two-thousand on a religious figure of today. Now lets see, what is the most popular religion that popped up in the last hundred yea-

Oh crap, we are going to base our new date system on Tom Cruises death.

But he isn't dead yet.  ???

How are we supposed to get our dating system if he isn't dead? Unless, he is a zombie?

When he does kick the bucket, the year after will be known as 1 AC. That is, unless somebody can make a Latin version of of it.

I had a lil program on a old computer that calculated the current stardate...  :P

That would be a great excuse for me... I always keep writing the past year in the first 4 months of the new year.

In archaeology we use BP and calBP (before present and calibrated before present). Which is obviously better.

I don't see how a before present system works any better than sticking to what we have right now. In all cases we are using an arbitrary event to base our time system, and there is no accuracy change in switching to this new system.

I propose a three notation system: BT, T and AT
Before Today
Today
After Today

We don't even need no stinkin' numbers.
