Black screen on startup.

So yeah, search turned up nothing that fits my situation.  I get a completely black screen on startup, whether in 800x600, or 640x300 mode.  I'm running "DAS BETA OF EVUL" if it really matters that much, and it is the 64-bit version.  I'm using no tilesets, only changed the max fps init option, and am using a Gateway P6831FX laptop with a T9300 and an 8800GTS.   Any clue what the hell is going on?

Try hitting F11 a few times, to see if windowed/fullscreen might work. Other than that, Dunno.

Going Fullscreen displays the game, but gives me horrid clipping, even with VSync on.   Swapping window/fullscreen quickly doesn't change anything.

Switch to normal 40d and mess with partial print a bit? Don't know, sometimes I get wierd display issues with fullscreen (it won't go to proper full mode, and cuts off the top of the screen), but that doesn't seem to be your problem.

did you turn vsync OFF? That's what worked for me.
