That's OK with me too. Give it a go, Aqizzar.

EDIT: I had to restart my machine, by the way, so my old IP is wrong now. Let's try our yours.

Okay, I've got the game hosted, how do I know what IP to give you?  And is that really a wise idea?

Also, my browser is all messed up because of SMAC's color palette.

Start>run "cmd" enter.
"ipconfig"

Somewhere it will mention the IP Address given to you by your ISP or Router or other Internet connection; give us that one.

Add dots to make it work.  I'll be waiting.

Very strange, can't get it to work. Are there any other IPs mentioned? Are you sure that all your firewalls and security systems are off?

Well, it also lists a subnet mask of 255 255 255 0, and a gateway of 192 168 0 1

And yes, I'm sure I turned off my firewalls.  Just double checked to make sure.

Still not happening.

Some routers have hardware firewalls, and there is a chance that that is causing our problems...

I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, but I suppose it's worth a shot; try hooking your computer directly to the modem, if you're using cable/whatever. If you're already directly connected, then I really am out of ideas. Solar flares, maybe?

Yeah, I don't have a router or anything, my computer is as directly connected as cable technology allows.

I think I'm just going to have to sit out the simulmatches.  Damn.

I really can't think of what else would be blocking a connection.  Except perhaps the stock Windows Security Center firewall, which for the life of me I can't figure out how to turn off.

How the fuck did I go this long without knowing that?  I thought the Security Center one was just a fake.

And I'm beginning to realize what a horrible exercise this is, announcing my IP address and that I'm turning off all my firewalls.

Anyway, give it a shot now.

Crispy Canned Cat Crap at Costco! What is blocking this connection!? Could you double-check that IP? If you reset the computer or router, it could conceivably have changed.

just so you know, windows firewall doesn't have to be disabled - just add terran.exe(in our case) to the exceptions list.

Unless there's some other Masonic IP Address I don't know how to get to, that's exactly what it says.

Ok, well, now that we have your firewall down, let's try the other way; I'll host again and let's see if you can access it.
