When I embark on any area with a underground river/pool, I always keep getting "Deceased" underground critters in my unit list.

This ussually would'nt bother me, but it gives me tremoundous amounts of lag, sometimes bringing FPS to a crawl.

I ussually get from 5 to 6 pages of these creatures, and they keep growing in number.

When I discover the feature, all lag stops and the list of dead creatures stops growing.

Hm. Maybe it was only with the underground river then.
