I kinda like the desert idea myself, :D I'd also vote for a coastline, I still haven't seen an ocean bordered fort do very well. And that makes it different for me. (also no sand in that embark suggested, so I'd vote for another choice)

but looks good to me, I'll sign up for year 4 if people haven't picked it yet.

Should be interesting to see how many days it will take my comp to run on that size embark

Okay, so far one for.  I will not vote for this one, I'd like to try another.  I'll give it another hour, though, before moving on.

Actually, I've never ran an ocean fort, lets do that. All in favor, STRIKE THE EARTH!

I hope you've all read up on filtering ocean water!
Or at least have read up on efficient graveyard management. Either way!
I've already decided it! A sailors death for me!

Okay, ocean it is then!

...Although I must admit I have no idea about filtering ocean water.  Are you serious?

And of course, you know it means we probably won't have a mountain to build on.

Yes'm. There's a detailed article about it in the df wiki. Don't worry, It's simple. Just run the water through a pump, and make sure it lands in a basin. The basin has to be entirely made of walls and floors and the water can't touch the regular soil again or else it become salty again. Who cares though. We're here to to have fun, not engineer an actual FUNCTIONAL fortress.

not an altogether bad thing, but you can sometimes find nice cliffs near the ocean, and with such a huge embark, it could be possible.

I do suggest we try to have some magma near our little paradise beach though

LOL!!!

Unfortunately, I can't find a haunted ocean, only calm and mirthful.  But there are some haunted lands next to an ocean.  How about one of those? No magma though.

On ocean maps are the streams/brooks saltwater too?

Oh, here's a sinister sea.  Good enough?

What's worse, haunted or sinister?
