Adamantine bow?
« on: January 29, 2009, 06:22:13 pm »

So my game is heavily modded, but I haven't touched the Adamantine.

My avian race doesn't even have the [METAL_PREF] tag.

I start as an Avian archer (Dabbling in swordsmanship), and I start with an Adamantine bow.

While this is very awesome, What happened?

ANNENDUM: Also, I have steel arrows. What.

Does it have WOOD_PREF, and lack outdoor farming?

I beleive so.

Also, they're at war with the elves. Not suprising, since they also use forest retreats and deforest the heck out of the forest.

But really, Adamantine bows really shouldn't be possible.

Please, everyone knows that just because it might not be "possible" doesn't mean its not going to stop us from doing it.

But adamantine doesn't even bend like that. It'd take a bronze colossus to even draw the bow, and the bowstring would snap with the tension. Not to mention, you'd be completely unable to fire it even if you managed to draw it, because adamantine doesn't have reflexive properties. The best I can think of is a wooden bow with an adamantine guard on it.

... In other words, It'd be something only a dwarf would make.

... My avians must be closely related to the dwarves or something. >.>

It's a bow with an Adamantine string. Obviously.

If adamantine has no reflexive properties, then how can a sock be made from it?

Where did we get the no reflexive properties fact, anyway?

By the way you don't really forge it, you just hammer it really hard into place...

The point is, This shouldn't be possible. Adamantine still has the [DEEP] tag, and dwarves can't even make bows, and they're the only ones who have acess to adamantine at all. I need to know what broke. D=

I believe that if you give a civ WOOD_PREF, but not outdoor farming, they'll use random metals.  Including DEEP ones.

Slow down there kid, he already did it! I think that is the point of this thread.

But yes, a good way to break a game by including materials that you have in the RAW's but are not intended to ever be mined or used outside their single use. Like metals that are perpetually boiling. Imagine starting with a weapon boiling in your hands.

But he didn't.

In this case, it just so happens that when he modded those raw files along with others, he got his bug.

We still don't know what else he may have modded.
