So my wife calls me up at work all pissed off because she found a piece of paper in front of the computer that simply said

"Plump Sweet Cave Pig"

She thought I wrote that about her.

Dwarf Fortress ruining marriages ;)

O.o  what in the heck was that paper referencing? ...Is there such a thing as "Plump Sweet Cave Pig"?

I was writing down crops

Plump Helmet,  Sweet Pods, Cave Wheat, Pig Tails

But I wrote down just the first word of the two short hand since I knew what it was

Hmmm...so many to pick from.

One time, a few versions back, I was testing out my Frost Giants as an enemy civ for my mod. Size 12 guys in full armor with building destroyer are pretty scary, even if they don't use archers. Anyway, I had this one fort with them as the enemy (back before the worldgen changes) and things were going along ok. I was building an elaborate combat corridor so that I could safely send my champions against them while keeping my civilians inside and not suicide looting. Well, the first siege came before I was quite ready but I thought I was ok. I raised the main gate to the fortress and figured I'd just wait them out.

Well...turns out that part of my new corridor hadn't gotten finished. The part that lead INTO my fortress hadn't been blocked off yet. So I suddenly had a full force of Frost Giant Macemen rampaging through the insides of my fort. My poor dwarves put up a good fight, but didn't manage to survive.

Still....nothing quite like the feeling you get when you discover that you'd left a back door into your fortress after it's too late to stop it.

This got be the most terrifying dwarf fortress story, ever, even if its not mainly about dwarves.
