I don't care about betas, but I'm going to buy this game for sure. I prefer the fantasy or medieval themed strategy games, but DoW was hella fun in MP, and the DoW 2. in-game videos are looking decent enough.  :)

Arg, I really want this game too, but my computer has a snowball's chance in hell of actually running it.

I didn't like DoW very much after playing it for two days. I was expecting more interesting stuff, but it was another "Get your best units and stomp the enemy to oblivion" game. That's what too much Starcraft does to your head. But DoW 2 looks promising enough to want to get it. i'll need to upgrade my machine if i want to run it at the best settings possible.

Yeah, Dawn of War was pretty much a standard RTS.  But it did what it did quite well, and used a resource system that was slightly better (in my opinion) than the standard system of peasant + tree = lumber.

Plus, it was just so damned stylish.  I think that was really the main thing, along with just how brutally entertaining the big fights were.

DOW won me over when I saw the kill animations. Gotta love giant robots impaling enemies. Plus they handled the resources quite nicely (at least IMO).

I liked DoW, and this one looks about as good. I may have to pick it up.

Now, if I could get my friends to get it too so we can do some multiplayer RTSs at LANs other then Starcraft or Warcraft III...

Demo is out. It's relatively fun, but like the other Relic RTSes, you're probably not going to enjoy this if you have no friends.

On that note, the Tyranid Hive Tyrant is a useless piece of crap. I've never seen a hero unit die to guardians before. GUARDIANS!

I have never ever had friends but Homeworld was my #1 game ever for years

Hehe, Homeworld would be the exception I guess. I had the same experience with that one.

Was referring more to Dawn of War and Company of Heroes.

Anyway, after more time playing, I think all the support heroes are far cooler and more awesome than the melee heroes. The lictor alpha is basically a smoker, so fun to run around pulling people into your jaws. And I figured out how to play as the Tyranids: build 2,000,000 nauts and go go go!

Yeah, this game seems based a lot more on the game play style of Company of Heroes, rather than the original Dawn of War. Which is good, as I liked the former better than the latter. Why?

No number of riflemen shooting at a tank with their rifles can bring down a Panzer. Just not going to happen. Company of Heroes respected reality at least that much. Unlike, say Command and Conquer.

Lies.

If everyone in the world shoots the tank with rifles, assuming they have unlimited ammo, the tank will eventually be buried and crushed by the weight of the bullets.

EDIT:

IT'S FINISHED DOWNLOADING.

EDIT2:

OMFG STEAM LIED IT'S NOT FINISHED.

To be fair, it isn't a beta. It really is a demo. You don't get to call something a "beta" when the game is at the publisher being printed (it comes out in less than a month).

Problem is, you can't force people to buy a crappy game (soulstorm/crackdown) to get access to a demo.

Seriously, wtf is that?

I am happy with the first three expansion packs, and I don't want Soulstorm.

Thankfully you don't need to buy it anymore.

Ugh, Games for Windows Live.

XBox Live works wonderfully, and I love it, but GfWL fights as hard as it can to keep me from doing anything fun.
