Bone Crossbows
« on: April 13, 2008, 04:03:00 pm »

I have no idea if this has come up or not, or if this is a bug or whatever the hell.  One stack of bone is needed to make a bone crossbow, which sounds all well and good, but it's not a specific number of bone units or whatever, it's just a stack.  Naturally this isn't too great, because it's tremendously wasteful when Mr. Craftsdwarf picks up a stack of 9 bone to make a single crossbow, and the waste isn't really balanced out when he picks up a stack of 1 to make the next crossbow.  Not that I'm sure how many units would go into a crossbow, but I'd really really like to be able to order bone crossbows made as a trade good and not plow through all the bone in my fortress in seconds because my dwarves apparently love making crossbows out of entire horse skeletons.  It's a pretty hilarious image mind you, but it's still annoying.

It's also the case with bone crafts, armors, etc.

Only bone bolts seem to have a product dependent on the number of bones that went into making them.
