No. That would just be too much of a logic fail. If we were to assume it's a poor kids school, then he's trying to keep the poor, poor and the rich, mmmm richer.

Why would it be a logic fail?

Looks like topology to me, but in that case I'd expect a donut to show up somewhere...

Okay, can anyone explain the concept of "Pep rally" to a non-US person?

Pep Rally

Title:(You know, pep rallies weirded me out in high school, and they've only gotten creepier in retrospect.)

In America, High Schools will hold "Pep Rally"'s in order to promote school spirit and try to show off how cool that school's sports team is.

So, what? Let me get this straight: Instead of classes, you're supposed to go to a compulsory gathering, of which the sole purpose it is to indoctrinate you with the notion that your school is better than any other school, and how your sports team is better, for they are your sports team, and your school, and therefore they are better.

So that's where the notorious blind US patriotism comes from... Creepy indeed.

They're actually a lot of fun. There's noise-makers, food, mini-floats, contests, tug-o-wars, boy dress up as girls, and there are cheerleaders doing choreographed dances to music.

And the author has some grave, depressing misunderstanding, cause the rally's aren't there to "indoctrinate" people into anything than it is like a small event where people have fun and make all the teams feel appreciated.
