Um... 0*∞ is 0. That's why photons actually can travel at the speed of light, because they have no mass.

Zero times infinity seems to be an undefined quantity. When evaluating limits (which is where infinity comes into play anyhow), it's an indeterminate form.

He said he tested with an underground pool, so that's horizontal; he probably channeled out water from the top level and thus his system has only the rest pressure of the even level, which is why it's not flowing up to the next level, as water at rest pressure (unpressurised basically) only ever flows to z-1, for some strange unknown reason.

Zero times infinity is meaningless and illogical, as infinity is not a number.

So...... we'll be seeing some strange water behavior in the next release, you think?

That sounds like what Shoku is getting at.

Unless Toady has redone the pressure system, which i doubt, as it's not mentioned anywhere, we'll be seeing exactly the same water behavior. It's a bit odd when unpressurised, but otherwise isn't that perculiar when you know what rules it operates on.

I doubt he would have messed with the pressure system without letting us know.

It doesn't make sense it doesn't have to.  Our best theories are only approximations.  The universe is MAGIC.

Zero times infinity is meaningless and illogical, as infinity is not a number.

Limit of 0*n as n approaches infinity, then?  Seems like a workable formulation to me.

What i meant was that 'infinity' is not a number. It is the concept of something without end, in your example, n is a number without end, it is infinite, but it is not in itself infinity.

Nitpicking at the language a bit, but it is extremely important when dealing with infinite functions to ensure you're using the right words, as otherwise it very rapidly becomes impossible to work out what the hell anyone is talking about.

Math can be so illogical.

It's plenty precise, but humans are illogical.

Precisely; Infinity is a concept, not a number.

but that can get a little complicated for this forum, I think.
Really? A forum where discussions of quantum physics come up from discussions of throwing mechanics can't handle tough math? This forum has some of the most complex discussions I have ever seen on the internet.

If by "number" you mean "Real number," then absolutely.  But I really feel the need to nitpick your language now too :P  Spoilered for the eyes of decent human beings:

I mean complicated to type the symbols I need.  And, really, I get annoyed when advanced topics spring up in public areas anyway.
