I think it would be excellent if there was a skill role and thus a trap avoiding skill.

I believe there's a situational awareness skill now, so that ought to cover it. Of course, you might need Mechanics to disarm the trap...

Well what do you use to avoid a trap?

Framework for instructor-led training, with instructor and evaluation of pupils determining nature of sparring/routines has been greened out today.

Cool, I think that one was blue or dark blue before. Still, things are starting to move quickly.

Well, he probably turned the faces of dwarven children everywhere green. They can't be hammerers until they grow up! It's every dwarf's dream to be one... mostly so they don't get hammered, but whatever.

Also, the new training is awesome. It's nice to know that dwarves aren't going to get locked in the training dance from HFS.

I hate to prod this discussion myself, but it keeps coming up.  I have to wonder how anyone can come to the conclusion of "building downward" being the natural answer.  Go up on your roof with some 2x4s, and build a staircase downward.  Then tell me how easy it'd be to do from the ceiling of a cave with masonry.

You know you might be exposing yourself to some liability with that one. :)

What do you mean by that?

Honestly, I'd like to see children Hammerers. Starts his training early, yanno?

Or perhaps a Child Hammerer position, for children by children.

On that note, have you made sure there are no bugs allowing children to be blamed for a failed mandate...?

And yet they can still be abducted by goblins?  Heh... I'd like to see a goblin try abducting a young, aspiring hammerer!

A Goblin abducted a Grizzly Bear.

I think we established their abilities.

I also spotted and squashed a few bugs. For one, it was appointing children as young as one year to positions like "General", "Manager" and "Hammerer". It didn't stop them from being abducted by goblins, though.

Dwarf McHammerton: "Sir!  Goblin on the horizon!  What order do you have for the crossbowdwarfs?"
Baby McGeneral: "Bababa... baba.. baaaaa..."
Dwarf McHammerton: "YES SIR!  BASH THOSE GOBLINS WITH YOUR CROSSBOWS!"

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

Well what do you use to avoid a trap?

You use your situational awareness to spot it, and then you make a dodging roll to avoid the pressure plate or whatever activates an ordinary trap.

Is the ability to dodge currently measured by how agile you are?

Pretty sure, yeah.  Agility should definitely factor in.  Also it should probably make the roll harder for larger creatures.
