Goodness yeah, nothing gets the questions flowing more then answering them.

Thanks for answering the questions so soon.

Yep I remember the Gibbon Treatment, how many were there 6-8? I assume they are now Casted unless they are seperate species altogether.

According to the wiki, there are 9, or 7 if you don't include the Bilou and Siamang just because they don't have gibbon in their name, but are in the Gibbon family.

@Toady:

The dig deeper mod has lots of animals in there (alot of new domestics though), so if you ask the author of the mod, maybe you can use them, or at least take ideas from it, but up to you man.

Is there a tag to randomise the associated spheres of a creature? And if there isn't, is it possible for you to implement one before the next release?

Damn. I was hoping to have something impersonating a god that wasn't a horribly evil monster and/or associated with deformity, but I suppose that will have to wait.

You could mod in POWER megabeasts with positive Spheres.

Yeah, that'll work -- if you add [POWER][MEGABEAST][INTELLIGENT_LEARNS] and then any spheres you feel good about for a given creature, it should impersonate those gods.  The only downside to this method is that the name of an individual creature will draw from all the spheres, so you'll get a wider, mushier selection of names the more spheres you add.  It might also cause more wars, since there's more opportunity for conflict (or even worse, if you have conflicting spheres on one creature, the behavior might be a bit confused -- not that they'd attack themselves, but the code won't get it, anyway).

Awesome! I fear for the humans in my future games...

The corruption idea seems great. It make me think of AdoM, where the adventurer will slowly mutate while  approaching his ultimate goal.

It could be great if it happened to civilizations as well.

Toady - Just wanted to say that the most recent dev log updates have been astounding and highly entertaining.  Also, I laughed at the dwarves having enlarged livers - I suspect at some point that a damaged liver will cause alcohol poisoning.

Yeah, it would be fun to have a few additional domestic animals to play with. Pigs should be at the top of the list, imo - my dwarves have had a pork craving for years now. :p

So they're like therapsids or something? Wonder what goblins are. Goblins always seem all by themselves, but I guess that's why everyone in the game hates them. Too different.

That or the Star Wars definition (the words are switched though, reptomammalian), which is pretty much the same, with both mammalian traits (usually fur, but can extend to behavior) and reptillian traits.

There are a few really good representations on that fan art thread.

Are Kobolds tailless though?

Edit: yea they're tailless. I tend to imagine them as having tails sometimes.

Every time I see "reptomammalian" or "mammaloreptilian" I can't help but think:  "... Platypus?"

When you look at the list, you realize there isn't much work left to do... a bit of underground and the ladder thing, some squad features, debugging / compatibility tests and it will be almost done. Awesome !
