He he he.  Yeah, it almost looks done...  alas...  those who are in your teens, hold on until your twenties...  those in your twenties, your thirties...  others, cling to life as you are able...
It should be pretty fun though.

And then, the next time we'll try to settle near a river....

Ohh I am sure the Carp is still king.

Well... Unless of course Toady improved the AI so Dwarves don't try to tackle them... Or have them the ability to get out of rivers.

toady do you think you might be able to add a number tag to LARGE_PREDATOR much like buildingdestroyer so that with a 3 on large predator they will become extremly visous like the fabled elephants in boatmurdered. (not sure which version they used)

Elephants were nasty pretty much any 2D version, from recollection, until they were nerfed in the 3D upgrade.

I think the main problem with most fish is that when your dumbass dwarf jumps into water that will go over his head, his speed is a lot lower than the fish, which then gets 3 or 4 attacks to rip the dwarf to shreds. If the dwarf is still conscious, he will probably struggle in vain to break the fish's latch. Even if he does break free, unless he's on the edge of the river, the fish will catch up. And hes drowning as well, which sucks.

So is there going to be an Arena mode release or something? That would be good.

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

Any chance we could get Unfinished Arena as a toy while we wait for the major update, or is it too deeply entangled with everything else?

It would probably be possible in some way, but I'd probably end up burning a lot of extra time if I do that, so I'm just going to get this whole mess out of the way.  Then we'll be in a happy place where releases can be more frequent in general.

<Skibiliano> I can just imagine a line of dwarves looking at two humans, "Breed!"

<Turgid> One dwarf to rule them all, one dwarf to find them, one dwarf to bring them all, and in the fortress bind them!

There'll surely be at least one hilarious superpower-creature bug in the midst of all the release issues.

Maybe it'll be size 50 mountain goats or firebreathing vermin or zombie giant alligators spawning on calm biomes or anything.

I'm predicting that the deer will become the new unlikely animal superpower.  Especially if they actually attack with their antlers.

The males anyway, the females don't have antlers.

I think you guys are exaggerating things somewhat.
