I imagine that if any tag of a fighting "Style" were to be acknowledged, it'd follow the name of the squad that originated it, such as the Flags of Liberating.

I think that for the purposes of dwarfiness, however, it'd likely be more pertinent for a dwarf to simply have pride in their squad-group. Maybe the disgruntled ones could rattle off their unused squad name ( "If I'd been a captain, I'd have named my squad the Soggy Thorns... but it's too late for that now.")

I guess you could create your own idiotic and ineffective style before you're talented, and it might be even worse than using no style at all.
Oh, fun.
Just like Armok 1's silly system.

"I will stand on my face and fight with my first toe, left foot!"

I have a theory that the small toe with a lot of force behind it will be oddly effective at piercing enemies. Like throwing money, but cheaper.

With all this talk of martial arts, I am starting to become intently interested.

Toady will there ever be some sort of mark that indicates that a martial art style; if it be a main style, a branch, or subset; is complete or complete as far as your skill is concerned? Will you ever be able to go back to an old "I don't know squat" style and fix it up?

As for toys, will they ever be character building devices? When you look at many toys now adays, or even back then, you see a lot of them seem to be built around the idea of child placement. So will a Child who plays with his Wooden animal end up liking that specific animal? Will a Child who plays with his miniforge-easybake-oven become a Foodsmith?

I don't think Toady ever actually mentioned martial arts and all the talk of martial arts started with me mentioning it. Wrestling moves are used in martial arts, right? Depends on the style most likely.

Martial arts is probably what a dwarf uses when they go into a martial trance.

Also, on the latest dev notes, maybe Scamps has an ear for music? :)

There is so much room for unintended dwarfyness... Upon release I predict pages upon pages of insanity. I can't wait.

If there are no martial arts in the next version, I'll update the Martial Arts mod and there will be! ;D

I don't think it ever had those. Not in that explicit wording, at least. :P

Now that you mention it, I might consider adding some... extraneous flavor. ;D
Maybe in a special version...

Well some Martial art mod had that move. Goblins did it and could even kill targets that way.

It wasn't "some", it was very much mine. Except it was considerably more innocent in its wording, if not in effect. It was a 0/0 attack, so it wasn't intended to cause any damage, but still managed to score criticals from time to time... and then there were the tentacle demons...

It is currently unconfirmed that Toady plans to completely re-record the music, with Scamps on the guitar.
