I had an idea.

With the new "champion" update, why not give the champion suffixes like "the slayer" if he's killed a megabeast or "the righteous" if he fights with a hammer?

If two or more titles are applicable, choose the achieved one, and if two achieved ones are available, choose randomly. A unique achievement that wouldn't bog down the game would be individual achievements that would give dwarves titles and suffixes that would come up in legends, or (If you want) displayed instead of their last name.

Yeah.  I would go the route of improving the earned titles so that they make more sense, i.e. better reflect the deeds of the bearer, while still retaining a unique randomized element.  Other types of names seem likely to go in that direction, too, as mentioned in the spoiler (and a bunch of other dev content).

I had an interesting idea in a dream last night.

I had a fort running and was doing some exploratory shaft mining.
A dorf got down to the bottom z-level, at which point a sand worm thing ate him.
The sand worm thing made the ground on the top level fuzzy in a circle for several tiles, then those tiles slowly collapsed down to the bottom and left a bottomless pit.

Well, I like the random nickname determined by (sphere or interests or something like it), but there's no reason to limit things to just one title or style.  In fact, giving a style for legendary status in any skill would be cool.  (Also, escalating 'random' titles of nobility.  Baron of (fortname), Count of (region name), especially if nobility gets 'promoted', (since a noble can hold multiple titles)

Another interesting expansion would be to add 'By the grace of Armok(or whatever deity the dwarf in question likes)' in front...

As for the new Happy Fun Stuff spoiler, all I can says is: YEEEEEESSSS!

I've been hoping for this feature for a long time.  I also hope it gets implemented more broadly into the rest of the world rather just in HFS, which apparently Toady plans on doing in his usual deliberate and well-planned fashion.

Yeah, that's right.  There's an overall issue remaining that I was going to handle when I do padding or don't do padding, which is the overall notion of thickness.  I think it fudges that in the calcs right now, but the item needs an extra raw number most likely.

It's all still the same as far as marriage goes.  I guess they would be partially anatomically correct, although certain eusocial insect worker females still have the capability to lay eggs (most likely unfertilized) so what's really needed is further work on exactly who does what with whom.

I dunno.  For the same reason I've left out underground rivers for now, there will likely be some limitations while I get used to working in the new space.  There will clearly still be magma, but I might not have time to work in anything interesting.

1) Aside from the revealed HFS spoiler, not much or anything, though I'm not done and something might happen -- it probably wouldn't be right to limit all the new venom functionality to the HFS, for example, and things like spiders and scorpions might be updated.

The way rooms currently flow out, it would take a bit of a rewrite to do Z rooms -- for instance, if you wanted to go up a level to check out how your flow is going, it might focus on a different building, and the whole flow system is a bit uncomfortable in 3D.  There are just some little things.

The buffoon raises a legitimate point! Trolls were the only real challenge besides bow-gobbos and HFS, and I modded bow-gobbos out and replaced them with sling-gobbos for awesome.
