Toady: Are you going to add support for building downwards stairs?

Without them these caves could be really irritating, since once you've breached a cavern roof the only way to build a staircase to the bottom would be to dig a tunnel all the way around and build one up. And if you can only see part of the cavern (with the new revealing technique) then even this will be difficult.

It's a "consider" for this release:
# Consider rope/ladder/etc. building particularly for downward movement into large open spaces
I feel incredibly stupid for missing that. Thanks!

Jakarra,
Go to the dev notes for the 18th.  :)

Those maps are revealed, so you're seeing all the ore veins and stone where you'd normally see black in-game.

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.

I like how the lowest levels aren't flooded. Makes some epic flash flood defences possible.

I am slowly beginning to think Toady including news about his cat is an attempt to slowly convert Arch Conservative anti-cat population to a more cat-tolerant population. I can get behind this movement. Not as part of the cat crime squad, of course, but as a sleeper.

The secret monthendproject Game: "Scamps - A day in cats life"

I like this little personal touch in the devlog. I advise thought to ceep scamps from chewing cables. That can end very unfortunetly.

Hey scamps is the example for the new cat-behavior code mayhaps?

Obviously just one step in the feline enslavement of the human dwarven race.

Hope that include walls.
That way it will be easier to build a dam

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

I don't know, you'd still have to pump the water out or something - and if there's no water there, you may as well dig a ramp down and build the wall from the lower level.
