Will there be dedicated dwarfs (besides current health care)/professions/nobles associated with healing?

Today's dev log mentions "skilled medical professionals," and the OP mentions "chief physician appointment" which indicates an entity position  (e.g. sheriff) if not an actual noble.

An inherited medical title sounds like an even worse idea than an inherited military one, to be frank ...

I wonder if the Physician will have settings, like the bookkeeper? Like preferences for treating patients, including patient status and wound severity? So if you have a lot of people with broken limbs, but you need them working soon, you could set the guy to prioritize yellow injuries and leave the more costly and lengthy healing of red injuries for later.

(Can't resist to make one post about liches: It just occurred to me that the Dutch word for dead body/corpse is 'lijk')

And I love the scenes you conjure with your devlogs.

you'd have to speak Dutch in a pretty thick dialect to make 'lijk' sound like 'liche'
... you might be right about the words having the same root though.

If you get a little bit south you find the germans which speak their "Leiche"(germ. for corpse) iirc pretty much like you "Liche".

Anyway we were at doctors.

If i were a doctor i would like to part my injured dwarfes from the deseased so my wounded ones dont get ill themselfs. Can we get a way too set one hospital zone to accept only injured dwarfes while the other gets the deseased ones?

Also i would like to get noise from a hospitalzone ("urist got disturbed by screams of pain lately") if painkillers arent avaibable and miasma from rotting /pusing flesh.

Washing before a sugery (if soap is avaibale) would be cool.

And we need Glasses/jars with formalin/Alcohol preserved animals/organs/bodyparts for macabre decoration. No hospital and healershack is complete without preserved organs.

So, now soap makers have a purpose!

Are milkers going to get a job fix?

Yes soap gets a use in the next version.

I mentioned formalin animals in my previous post as decoration. Some similiar, less creepy, things could be Bottle ships, Potplants, and models of different stuff (tiny bronze collosy etc.).

I don't think contagion has been implemented in any form thus far.

Urist McAverage has been ecstatic lately. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer recently. He dined in a legendary dining room recently. He contacted AIDS recently.

That just popped into my head.

Wouldn't that imply some sort of food nutrition system?
... and would anybody around here even go for that?
Hmm.

Hmm.

Hillariously there would probably be quite a few people who would say Dwarves should be immune because they are all manly and life underground.

But I think people would generally be behind that in some form. Not QUITE as far as tracking individual types of nutrician (Vitamin B) but possibly a few key types: (Vitamines, Iron, and blaw)

Posting in between Toady's list update and devlog update.  I don't know why I feel the need to tell everyone about this.
