Yep. Sadly awesomeness has a price that must be paid.

It should be added as a race trait, something like:

[CREMATION] - allows happy thoughts from units burned at a funeral pyre
[SPOCK] - allows happy thoughts from units in coffins dropped into a chasm
[VIKING] - demands wagons dumped into magma, on fire, with booze

and so on.

I'll not color this question, because I have a sneaking suspicion it's been asked before, but will it be (or is it currently, and am I just doing it wrong) possible to dump coffins with people still in them into pits and the like?

The mechanics should already be there, since this is exactly what happens with cages: you can construct them and deconstruct them without removing the things within them (living, dead or inanimate). I think the only reason this doesn't happen with boxes/bins/bags/coffins is that it would be inconvenient, since you have to dump things to get them out of cages at the moment.

Whether it should be implemented, I don't know. I could see interred-dwarves-dumped-into-bottomless-pits as constituting either sacrilege, or a high honour.

The litmus test here is: "Do they bounce off the walls on the way down?". Bouncing is not high-honour.

He bounced off the walls 3 times and took out a giant bat on the way down, that means he is happy with his descendants and will wish them 3 times their normal good luck from the afterlife.

That giant bat looked really surprised, and his sock flew off when he hit the bat, but I'm not sure what that translates to.  Either "All my money goes to my firstborn son" or "Yarin, your fly is down."

Was planning on doing this, by returning to the same place I played my very first fortress, going straight for the magma and not realizing the dangers awaiting me. Much older, wiser, and having had a lot of Fun, I will conquer it.

I just did my first HFS fort, and was disappointed by how easy it was to take down 31 demons. Looking forward to new challenges

'Dunno` about Fire Clowns though.

Given the duration my dwarves spend on fire in relation to their attributes I can't say that it looks like toughness has anything to do with how well they resist the state.

So hope for a good deal of luck or shoot them so full of holes they never get to hadoken.
