I don't think Toady will do an April Fools prank. It would be quite epic, but if he didn't release it on April Second, the bad will it would create would just be too much to bear. The players have been waiting for a year and a half, and doing that to them, while hilarious, wouldn't be right.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.
This could be a handy way of teaching preschool children mathematics.

See? See? I was right all along!

After about 10 or so times of changing your counter when your perdiction didn't fall into place. :P

But that's fine, even when I made my guess, Toady said that was accurate and it turned out to waaaayyyyyy off.

I am going to strike that Earth so damn hard. It won't know what struck it. But it'll be me.

so, damning cave rivers is too easy, i think i just figured out how to damn up entire cave lakes, drain them and then pump out the water. then i can install... this is going to be so epic!

i really hope that cave lakes can be multi level, or it will stay too easy.

Our prayers have been answered! A firm(ish) date! I can't wait to see what kind of wacky bugs this version delivers.

There would be bad will if he release an .exe that taunted you.  But doing a creative prank by releasing the new code, but intentionally messed up in some insane way would be too awesome.

And people would play around with it for however long.  I could see that working.

And here I thought it was going to be released the day after I started a new fortress. I haven't played since before Christmas in anticipation of the new version.

The new discussion-based learning may allow them to gain some skill without actually sawing bones.
I think that only military skills can be taught in the upcoming version. I think the current system relies on the military/sparring/squad code to determine who teaches whom. Otherwise everybody would be trying to teach everybody else everything they know all the time.

Greiger's is actually correct...  sadly enough.  The emotional circumstance processor is still turned on, with a randomly rolled up personality, but they can't express themselves or take control...  they can only cry.

I hope Adventure mode gets fixed during the merge.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Merges don't work like that. He'll release the merge as soon as he can, and making Adventure mode and sieges not suck will come sometime after, along with the various fixes in the Eternal Suggestions Voting.

I don't think he's talking about actually changing adventure mode. I think he's referring to the input(?) changes that currently result in one or two serious problems playing adventure mode.
