I can't wait for the bugs.

A light bruise on any part of the body will cause medical dwarves to consider all of the patient's skin a lost cause. The doctor then flays the patient alive.

A military dwarf tantrums.  Then becomes completely useless in training as he now refuses to teach anything but throwing.

Cats will wander off into unexplored underworld in their hunt for vermin.  Sometimes pulling aggro on some very dangerous creatures on their way back. (Can double as a feature)

Kobolds will try to steal dwarf bones, while still inside the dwarf.   And succeed.

A bronze colossus will show up at your fortress.  A furnace operator will runoff, grab it, and melt it at a furnace.

You will be able to milk everything, even without the milkable tag.  It just produces _milk.

Love it! ^^

The new discussion-based learning may allow them to gain some skill without actually sawing bones.
Well, where will our medical dwarves who are going to teach the newcomers get their experience from in the first place?

Anatomical studies on dead things?

Which brings about an odd thought...morgues....and autopsy rooms....and from autopsies you could find things that could be causing natural death earlier (non varied diet, poor drinking water, etc) and that could tie into a much larger health system that also makes varied diets MUCH more useful

im so happy with the things in this release. hear that mr toady?

im so happy this release is finally coming, and a week lets me get my current batch of uni assesments done, so i wont be tempted to explore the new underground rather then do my essays. hooray.

hooray hooray hooray indeed. i was getting bored of mid 90s adventure games in my downtime. all the things in this release are nearly all the things i felt DF mode was seriously lacking in. if i was not a penniless student living in my parents garage i would totally donate something.

also reading through all the discussions that have come up here makes me excited for the far flung future. and the likely neww mods we will be seeing. morgues, autopsy rooms and related guilds indeed. the bugs will be fun.

The current situation is that I expect a (buggy!) Windows release in about a week, with the 40d# merge commencing at that time (or within a few days of the release). This is a bit of a change of plan, since I was originally going to release for all operating systems at once, but I feel like I'm going to get even more bogged down if I don't do it this way and the initial pre-merge release will give us a control to work with in the same way that 40d can be compared to 40d#. The initial merge release shouldn't take too long though, and it will be the top priority aside from the worst catastrophic crashes and things of that nature. I know the merge changes make the game playable for many of you when it otherwise isn't.

Anyone else have "fey mood approaching" feeling? :)

The four dwarfsmen of the dwarfocalypse are...hmm
Magma
Clown
Tantrum Spiral
Death
Siege

Hmm...that's more than four.  Maybe there should be seven, as is traditional for dwarfs.  Also, better name than "dwarfsmen"  may be possible, but I couldn't think of a good steed.  suggestions?

As the Elves can't use soaps, they're going to be as dirty as hell.
Massive Elf-flu outbreaks every spring.

wait..

WAIT...

OH YEAH!
I think I've just stumbled upon the ultimate WMD against Elves.. If we give infections to the Caravans, do you think they'd transfer it to the populations? and as everyone knows wood is fairly useless as a scalpel... Bye bye TreeHuggers.

If the mac version comes out later I think I might strangle someone everyone.

Should have thought about that earlier and bought a proper computer.

No, the linux release would come out even later???

There's nothing before Alpha, and Gamma(Γ) comes after Beta(β)…
I can't see an opportunity for expanding there; maybe if you pretend it loops and use Omega(Ω) but…
We could use hieroglyphics.

The remaining two could be cave in and nobility.
