Not that he don't deserve a break, but he used to work at weekends.

Rare example of a double negative that ends up meaning what you ment.

I'm not a native English speaker, this phrase structure makes perfect sense in my language. Being self-taught at English, now and then I commit this kind of errors.

It would be "not that he doesn't deserve a break" ("doesn't" instead of "don't"), but aside from that, it's perfectly normal English, assuming you mean to say "it's not true that he does not deserve one" (i.e. he does deserve one).

Yeah, makes sense in English. Should be "doesn't" instead of "don't" but I don't want to turn this into an English lesson from someone who has recently started droppn the "i"s as well as "g"s from verbs.

I think the reason vanilla doesn't have metal mechanisms currently is only because no metal should work for the whole grab-bag, and siege engine parts to boot.

Except Adamantine.

again, no, raw Adamantine.

And cooked Adamantine wafers.

again, no, forged from Adamantine. And this can work with non-wafer metals, it's just there aren't with the tags to do this in vanilla.

And cooked Adamantine wafers.

hehe. tasty, tasty microcline Adamantine.

There are many issues with this statement.

see, you can make a magma proof mechanism from 1 raw adamantine, or three wafers, which is just 3 processed adamantine stones.

making it with wafers takes three times as much adamantine, and much more time!
if you're going to make adamantine mechanisms, it's stupid to make them from wafers, unless you want to make a gear box as peice of furniture that is insanely high value.

Thats assuming you even HAVE adamantine in the first place.

I got that, someone who's a native speaker of english wouldn't make those mistakes AND be able to play dwarf fortress.

Thats assuming you even HAVE adamantine in the first place.

I'd hazard to say that adamantine will be much more available in the new version, complete with horrific HFS.

My point is that not everybody embarks on HFS all the time.

You could make a fish that secretes blood, then give it the [SAVAGE] and [EVIL] tags. Then terrifying biomes will have rivers full of bloody water. Only problem would be that immediately after embarking, the river wouldn't be bloody because the fish will only start secreting once you embark. Adventurer mode would also have this problem.

It would be a minor issue really. May become a bigger problem with oceans unless they are chock full of fish (as lakes usually are) since it could become patchy. Then there's the seasonal cleanup.

I have a question related to custom workshops, but since its a reaction that I'm talking about, modders will probably know this. Does anybody know the maximum number of materials that can be added as required for a reaction?
If you could make it poisonous with the effect of bleeding...

Other languages don't have that push to avoid double negatives so there are plenty of persons about with experience in putting together sentences like that which still make sense.

It's really only an error in English because we're too stupid to use double negatives without intending only single negatives.

Ok, probably not but that seems to be the modern hangup with it.

It would be "not that he doesn't deserve a break" ("doesn't" instead of "don't"), but aside from that, it's perfectly normal English, assuming you mean to say "it's not true that he does not deserve one" (i.e. he does deserve one).
Well no, it isn't normal English. It may be normal in some dialect or simply within our ability to interpret smoothly but English is narrower than that.
