The Hydra bug is one of the final milestones in the bugfixing process.

Aw, no gas (smoke, miasma, etc spreading and going through chimneys instead of disipating, etc)
If you had a constant source, it probably would, but yea only for a short distance.
I assume you were replying to my post, since no other one seems to make sense, so I've quoted my own post here for convienience.
I meant that the list says nothing about changing the behaviour as has been suggested, so that forges and smelters generate smoke that acts like upside-down water (but maybe without pressure, so it would hardly lag at all). Smoke would have a level like water from 1/7 to 7/7 and levels above 5/7 would be deadly.
Miasma would also work like smoke, and there would be no special effect of "above ground areas don't generate miasma/smoke" or "miasma/smoke disappears above ground", it would just dissipate a lot faster.

I dont know.

I think the most we can say is that the hydra was not a first tier bug. So he no longer just started to work bugs and has made progress.

It's back to not-working, though now no quickfix of "remo'e keycap, press squishy thingy"

Oh THAT'S why you do it.  I was seriously starting to wonder if you just liked creating random contractions.

If a new keyboard isn't an option, have you tried remapping one og the redundant numbers to the bad letter?

So toady is testing the hydra. Does this mean that we're moving on from bug fixing and to the rest of the list? Or are is toady just taking a quick break to deal with the specific bugs of the Hydra before returning to other bugs?

More like the bolded part, but to clarify, "the hydra test" doesn't just mean bugs specific to the hydra.  It also includes all kinds of general bugs and oddities with bleeding, butchering, etc.

The Hydra bug is one of the final milestones in the bugfixing process.

That may have been the original idea, but it's not particularly final anymore.  Like Toady said recently, the issue list has grown a lot since then.

I thought after the Hydra test just came any misc bugs and tests that were missed while doing the other stuff, and then the graphical updates.

Heh. I'd assumed you were playing with syllable count as a matter of course, so that things would flow on paper as they did in your head. The line in your sig never made sense to me.

I dunno if this has been answered yet but here goes

In the testing arena we have the capacity to control creatures which we normally could not. Will we have the ability to use these creature's special attacks? Such as fire breath or blood sucking?

I would imagine arena controls are just adventure mode controls.

Wiggles is correct.  You can't use special attacks yet, unfortunately.

I have a suggestion for a small change that could be included at the last minute -

Make the game music toggleable in-game.  I love the music in the game, but if you're going to spend hours playing the game, being able to take a break from the music without restarting the game and editing data files could prevent people from going uh, stark raving mad.

I used the word "game" way too much in this post.

You could always just go to the settings and turn the music down to nothing. It's right there, in the Escape menu that you can reach from just about every screen.
