Just for curiosity, does Toady use any external version-control to secure the source?
You mean "secured" as in "backup'd"?
Seems so.

Yeah, frequent backups, located here and there.

Version control is not the same thing as keeping backups (nor does it replace backups), but it's still very useful thing to have... even if you develop it yourself.

He does keep at least the major versions separately, since he was able to make updates to 40d while working on DF.2010. I'd imagine he just keeps separate project folders for any "milestones" he reaches.

Do you think somebody else would understand the whole code to write alternative game?
Yes, if the code is well commented and documented.

That buggy and crashy crap?

Point taken, but if I had some version control running on separate server, which is also backupped, its effectively a backupping automation aswell.

Wasn't that done by Baughn & co?

all major versions, the 40d# aren't here though, but i'd bet they are still able to be downloaded individually as well.

Scamps is definitely a Time Agent from the future. He was sent back in time to stop Dwarf Fortress before it is too late.

This would imply Baughn & co are given access to the full DF source code. I think that's not the case, because then Toady wouldn't have "merge with the 40d stuff" on his to-do list.

Not even Scamps will escape from the scorn of DF fans if he pees on Toadys computer. Which Scamps is probably smart enough to NOT do.

Will arrows or bolts ever shoot all the way through a creature, or do they go to the deepest layer and get stuck?
How are stuck ins handled now? Does removal cause extra bleeding? Is removal handled by surgeons?
Do ballistae still obliterate everything in their path, or do they actually do damage now?

Greiger's is actually correct...  sadly enough.  The emotional circumstance processor is still turned on, with a randomly rolled up personality, but they can't express themselves or take control...  they can only cry.

I know that, I just meant the gerneral ongoing development with the 40d#-versions :)
As far as I know, Toady wasn't further patching personally after 40d, correct me if I'm wrong.
