Cut me down like a tree like the lumber or weeds, well discard who you please like the leaves off a tree. Drag me out of the sea and then teach me to breath. Give me forced health till I wish death on myself. Ah! Ha! Ha!

Scamps is definitely a Time Agent from the future. He was sent back in time to stop Dwarf Fortress before it is too late.

In which the dev-log update topples the train instead of righting it. Anyway, in response to the worried speculation will the same world gen seeds still result in the exact same world, or will there a be more random factors with the new features?

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

If a magmaman falls into a lake do they turn into obsidian golems?

They sure better, because that would be AWESOME.

But what happens to the lake? Does it turn to steam? Could you use a magma man to completely dry up a lake?

The engineering possibilities are endless! With enough friendly magma men you could temporarily dry out a patch of ocean or major river! Dam-building becomes incredibly easy! (Well, I suppose taming enough magma men might be difficult.)

That reminds me, I've been wondering how the new butchery system would handle non-fleshy creatures. If you take the ITEMCORPSE tag off, say, an iron man, and butcher it, will you get:

1. Usable iron
2. Iron in some form you can't use
3. "Iron man meat"
4. Iron man chunks (the current result), or
5. Nothing?

Clearly, butchering an iron man should yield iron blocks, mechanisms, human meat, and a random alcohol.

What's that refering to? I think I've heard it before, but I can't quite get it... damn.

I think it may be a Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference.

Rather a reference to Tony Stark/Robert Downey Jr. who plays Ironman in the movie of the same name. ::)

Dwarf Fortress.
Where the most important logistic to building the world biggest dam is figuring out how to tame a couple humanoids composed of magma.

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

I think all you need is a steady supply of magmamen, a noble, a reliable lever-puller, and a (magma-safe) bridgeapult.

Imagine a combination of power goals 44 and 45: The ruler convenes a council of the nobles to appoint you the high priest of the nearby towns. Instead of waiting for them to finish their drinking session, you walk in and crush a goblet while berating their disgusting behaviour and general incompetence.
