I think that's way too long of a guess.

My turn, I'm estimating it to come out at March 5th-15th  :P

I'm going with that too. Mainly because if I have to wait until summer, I'm going STARK RAVING MAD!

One of the requests that Toady might (or might not) have time to implement in this release is exporting legends to XML.  From there it'll be straightforward.

At that point, instead of a wiki, I think it'd be more fun to create an animated Dwarf Fortress history in Flash.  I think I'll do that.

When did this release get the name of Dwarf Fortress 2010?

When some people got overly optimistic about the release date.

I'd go with "21 Jan 2010".

I think Toady might be done in a month. Minimum.

So is any temp-raw counterpart created when a random forgotten beast is added?

Yeah, they work directly from internal text raws that are generated beforehand.  There is also a special raw file in the folder that shouldn't be tampered with.  If it is tampered with badly enough, random creatures will be skipped, at least while random creatures are hard-coded in part.

I just wanted to know if we could copy random creatures that we liked to be added to another world. I'm pretty sure some new mythological beasts of earth myth "quality" will be generated. I'm quite glad.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

The megabeasts should have higher chances to attack.

My best fortress started on year 200 and has gone on for 15 years and nothing attacked except billions of sieges.

It is entirely possible that your world has been depopulated of megabeasts or you've decided to settle in some sort of mountain valley region? And not a problem with the game per say?

The game won't spawn megabeasts out of thin air any more.

I'm surprised nobody's commented on the "unknown frozen substance doors" yet.

is it unknown frozen substance or frozen unknown substance?

cause there's a BIG difference.

I think it was that the doors were made of metal or something, which has a freezing/melting point in the raws. So the program mistakenly thought a solid metal door should show up as "frozen" or something.
