I'm personally okay with unnatural things growing teeth and other organs in where they don't belong. Maybe not for zombies, but 'mutant' would be a cool template to have.

The new devlog was satisfying to read. Just knowing that a lot of bugs got fixed makes me feel a little bit closer to the release.

"Eyetooth" refers to canine teeth.

Er, by "canine teeth" I don't mean "dog teeth", I mean the teeth in your head referred to as "canines".

So it wasn't a bug, that's just... what that kind of tooth is called.



In the book, the shirt wasn't neatly folded. It was wrapped up, but not folded like a shirt.

Even then. If you can wrap the thing up, it has enough flexibility to be squashed into a person quite a ways. He should have at least had a horribly broken sternum (and surrounding things).

Because most players seem to see the vastly superior combat prospects of the crossbow as a bad thing.

I think so, but yer arms and legs and stuff won't have colored hair. Also if your creature has an upper and lower body, that bit won't work. Try:

I've got a handful of creatures I think are about 85-90% accurate/complete from what I've seen from the various raw previews so far, I'll post them in a few days if Toady reveals the breath attack thing.

Same thing with me. I started makeing my mod already, and I am basing it completely off of dwarf/cougar raws at this point.

I saw somewhere (ark projest thread?) that Toady released the code for stripes and I copied and pasted it directly from the quote, which was:
           [COLOR_PATTERN:STRIPES_GREEN_BLACK]
      [PATTERN:STRIPES]
      [CP_COLOR:GREEN]
      [CP_COLOR:BLACK]

I'm kind of guessing, but I think that the "STRIPES_GREEN_BLACK" part is only used in the description paragraph (in this case something like "it has green and black stripes". But the other stuff corresponds to the actual token, and deals with what colors the dwarf likes and whatnot, which in this case is the component colors green and black.

Then again I could be 100% off on that.

It would make more sense to do the body vs. head coloring the way you did. (ie have the main part be "all" and rely on the "head" token to overwrite the "all" token, if any of that makes sense)

Anticipating the next dev phase, I'll try asking a few Qs about the upcoming combat arc:

How will the unit formations have tactical meaning, if creatures can move over top of each other and through each other's lines?
(It seems that the best formation would be stacking all soldiers into a single square so that every time a single foe moves into striking range, 50 dwarves simultaneously attack him!)

Is an archery rewrite soon to be in the offing? Will it follow physics to a greater degree than now?
(There is said to be a 20-square straight-line range limit on all missile weapons that includes, at the moment, not only the lateral distance from the target but also the Z level distance as well. That was a bit disappointing to learn. Greater Z level, if anything, ought to improve both the horizontal range and force of impact of the missile.)
