There has been no mention of changes to the manager screen or hauling overhead for the next version.  Those are both very popular on Eternal Suggestions Voting which means there's a good chance they'll get implemented in one of the versions to follow:

In any case, the idea for the release *after* this next release is going to be to tackle one of the main army issues (improved sieges or sending out armies) as well as to take honest stabs at the top 10 or so entries from eternal suggestions (farming is currently among them), and there will probably be another item or two from dev_next that isn't from the Army Arc, though what we want to do from among those constantly shifts.

Ah, okay.  Then I will probably wait until then.  Thanks for the info!

Glad to hear the computer problems didn't cause too much trouble, and no data loss.

Toady, please post a few screenshots of the dwarves if you're able...

"I'll be starting the descriptions tomorrow, which will be pretty exciting since I haven't gotten a chance to see what all of the work on appearance has come to yet. The first batch of dwarves will likely be trainwreck fugly."

Just for humors sake, lol. :) Shaggy beardless dwarves with boiling gold blood...

What's this about SirHoneyBadger and book summaries?

I think he posted a bunch of medical book summeries including ones on practices done at the time periods Toady stated.

I thought toady meant the "sugery/medicin in Df thread" on the suggestions forum. Anyway congratulation for entering Dwarfen Knighthood SirHoneybadger.

I think that is what he is refering to.

Or rather a specific post on that thread.

He actually followed some of those links and PM'd me some larger summaries, and it was a big time saver.

It was a lot like doing a book report, strangely enough. First one of those I've done in probably 20 years.

I really learned a lot too. It's pretty amazing what people knew back then, and the amount of knowledge that they then lost.

I've only gotten very deeply into the Greek/Roman stuff so far. There's a lot more info I'm still hunting down, but hopefully that gave enough for Toady to get started.

If anyone's interested (and willing to commit some real time) in helping me, by the way, feel free to PM me, and I can hand out some assignments. A few more sets of eyes would definitely help. Even if it doesn't end up going into the game, it can be interesting to learn more about this kind of thing--and just history in general.

You should make it possible for a small population of the dwarves to look horrible, because then you'd have freaks!

Yes. I am surprised this had not happened yet.

Dearest Toady, giver of life, taker of life;

I appreciate your developments, but...

You're designing multi-layered "cosmetics" for a coloured smiley face.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who urges you to re-arrange your priorities.

The apperance of different charactrers can be one of the maincauses for a plot and is essential to some very immersiv storytelling. Anyway i think its a fun thing so why not?
The most players in fort-mode will ignore it and for adv mode - which needs some updates in my oppinion - its a nice thing to have. The appereance is one of the most popular things in superstitions and prejudice. it also have wide effects on many other stuff f.e. election, mating, or even calculating the chances to win a fight.

A band of well nourished muggers is more impressiv then some guys in rags whith sunken in eyes and a body where you can count rips.

It may seem unnessesary but I like the idea, even though if the game had an interface update much more people would play who cares? I Like the idea of appearence paragraphs. And could someone post a link to the topic with the picture?
