Yes but in the latest Diary the demon had a randomised form.

One pretty obvious difference will be that Demons can talk and think and lead civilizations and such, while the above- and under- ground versions of superbeasts will not.  Beyond that, I think they all have random appearance.

Curse you internet!

Random means many things.

What I meant was set up to randomisation so that they usually will end up looking differently from eachother. Though I realise that all this won't happen now.

I am becoming VERY confused.

Really? I can't find anything that says demons will be randomised rather than a raw-defined species, did I miss something major?  :(

Wait, Gulsheb is meant to be a forgotten monster, right?

Oh. Well, I read that completely differently.

I don't know what to think, now.

...Where are you getting that?  I don't see anything saying that Gulsheb was a demon, or that the demons who took over goblin civs had random appearances.

Yeah, Gulsheb the "towering, bloated one-eyed thrush" was definitely not a demon per se.  Nor are demons randomly generated creatures, as far as we've heard.  However, it's still probable that demons will have randomized appearances in the same sense in which dwarves have randomized facial features.  Demons already have randomized personalities in the current version, after all.

Huh...  Now that I've looked back and reread it, it doesn't say that Gusheb was a demon, just that she "escaped from the depths", which doesn't necessarily equate "pits".  Toady, where are you?

Have you guys considered that maybe it was the GODDESS that took the form of a towering cycloptic thrush with a trunk?

Toady made it clear she was nothing of the kind, and impersonated the human myth.  "How" is a good question.

Well here is one way to find out.

Quote
If you want to get the same civ-leading behaviors out of your modded-in mega beasts, you can tack the POWER tag on them

Here are the raws

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Notice the lack of the Power Tag?

It had to be a demon or some other creature but it couldn't be a forgotten beast. Though I thought the fact that it spoke about demons would have given that away.

Also you know what I'd find REALLY awsome? If Demons could actually transform into the gods they impersonate (at least in terms of appearance)

It's also possible some of the tags changed, since he hadn't finished up (or possibly even started) with writing in those behaviors yet.

Both the diety and the demon are female, so that doesn't help matters.

Maybe it was a shapeshifting demon, there, that should answer it once and for all (semi-sarcasm).

I think it was the goddess that was the towering thrush, it wouldn't take too much imagination to think a horrible lookig demon was a manefestation of a goddess of mutation and deformity.
