Anyway, is there a thread for this neo-gunpoweder mod yet?

YESSSS

Finally someone who has the same page settings as me!  I feel vindicated!

It would be cool though if magma produced steam, and said steam caused discomfort/unhappy thoughts.
Being in close proximity to magma is pretty bad for living things in general, you can be boiled alive.

That makes me wonder, will steam be able to scald things to death again?

This came up earlier:

Quote from: Karlito
So, now that we've got proper material temp handling, will we see steam come back as a possible weapon source?

It's different, certainly, but I'm not really sure.  The main problem in the new versions has always been the contact time and that the temperature difference between steam and flesh is very small (compared to say boiling metal).  If the gas can condense and settle as a hot contaminant you'd have the highest chance of getting something to happen I think, and those items are still outstanding on the list, I believe ("Handle a few material contaminant issues" has a temperature-related item anyway, and some quibbles with mat state).

That was a long time ago though, so it might have changed since then.

It's not just that. You're quick and dedicated. (I still think that if Toady ever promotes a few members into mods, you're first in line.)

I'm really just sitting around waiting for the combat and biology updates, and what I've been reading about those has been pretty juicy. I'm also hoping that adventurer mode loses the insta-heal upon travel (which I like to think of as the Blessing of Armok) so that I have much more incentive to not get pieces of me lopped off.

I don't suppose there's hope for a new release of DF BEFORE all these things are done?

It has been a year after all.

And there's a lot of work left to be done.

The most recent word: "[releasing before the end of the year] is a goal of mine.  Some other features are very likely to be put off, and I'd like to get it out by the end of the year, but it might not be possible."  So it's going to be at least a few months, even if he does release before everything on the List is done.

Well, it might be that if a workshop can be tied to a specific attribute - as Pumps are to the broadly applied Strength right now - you could tie workshops to other attributes, like a "dwarven Cycling machine" for running speed.

Hehe.

Also, I would also like to feed Footkerchief some praise.
Footkerchief, Aqizzar, and Vester would probably make excellent mods.

How about me?? :( T_T

But... Footkerchief is a good newb-helper, Aqizzar a true WarBoss (Dakka dakka) and Vester is an artist.

Put Deon/Sean Mirrsen/ALL THE MODDER IN THE MODDING FORUM in there, and a party is made!

You're all too kind and so forth.  But really, I'd like to jump on the Everyone Praise Footkerchief train too.  I occasionally go back into the devlog to look up old notes and bits of hilarity, but what Foot does with finding specific quotes and answers is amazing.  And the speed is even more astounding.  He's a living encyclopedia.
