Toady is frying in his home as we speak.  Scamps can't take much more!  Time to start a window-unit donatathon I think.

eh, it'll pass as soon as everything comes through.  Heat waves like this are pretty rare in the PNW.

Then again it has been the dryest summer on record, at least in Seattle.

All this talk of the heat wave makes me feel bad that we're having the coolest summer on record here in Ohio.

I guess it would be bad form to mention that I live in Texas, and work a job loading trucks in 100+ degree heat five nights a week?

Same here, there hasn't been a single day where the temperature hit 30 degrees Celcius.

In the Tri-State area, we are having the second wettest summer in recorded history. It's been raining on and off since April.

Same in New England: June was the wettest/cloudiest June ever, with only four days of sunshine the whole month and some...crap, I can't quite remember, but something close to 20 inches of rain.  Our area only gets 46 inches all year.  The plants were growing mold and mildew, and many annuals were simply dying of the excessive wetness.  We lost 100 inpatients this year, half of those we bought.  Furthermore, the clay vein running through the back became a mire every other day.  At least it was cool: now it's 80 degrees and humid as hell, you can't get anything done without getting woosie (if you're from around here that is; Floridians have no problems at all).

Driest summer ever in Seattle, huh?  What's that like?  Has it only rained five days out of every seven? :P

I'm in Abbotsford, British Columbia here. Only a couple hours north of Seattle.
It's downright nasty going to work and performing heavy labor in 38 degrees celsius, man.

From Albuquerque, New Mexico here... the average rainfall is about 9.5 inches a year. When it rains you see people go outside offices, classrooms, and restaurants just to experience it. Our summer days frequently get over 100 degrees - that's crisp, dry heat. If you stick your hand out the window of a moving car it feels like a blow drier.

And I thought it was extreme here... until my sister-in-law moved away from here to a part of Nevada where it's currently reaching 110 degrees during the day  :o

The information age: when talking about the weather is spread over enough of the globe to actually be informative.

We are in a discussion about what Toady wrote in the Development Blog. Is it on Topic?

I don't think ambient temperature variation is on the List of Remaining Items, so no. :P

Might be a fun thing
to have a mod-able widget to link DF processes to an online weather service or whatever noise generator, such as system RAM availability or coreCPU temp to trigger events / vary ingame variables.
Not really a core functionality though, so if ever attempted let it be an EMP.

Not really core game-functionality though, so if ever attempted let it be an EndMonthProject.
[fix'd for clarity. could have meant anything from making CPU temp regulate world core temperature to making DF cause an ElectroMagPulse.]

Hi there!

sorry for interrupting, but there is just one thing that bugs me:

I heard the dev list isnt all of the changes for the next release, if so, where can I see the other changes? or a changelog or whatever?

btw, if you link processor temperature to DF, you will get a very realistic scenario, the bigger your fortress, the bigger global warming gets =p

^^ thanks
