A week after this devlog entry, keyboard manufacturers the world over get bombarded by incoherent requests, "NEW F5 KEY MUST REFRESH STRIKE THE EARTH".

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOGMOMGOMGOMG

Sorry about that, but if 2010 is out in a week, I'll have my Easter Vacation w/o school to play it! Yay!

It's a good thing I didn't give up DF for Lent.
For people who practise Lent, giving up DF would be worse then giving up God.

I demand dev update on Scamps, I feel he is missing out on the spotlight.  He's Bay12's mascot after all!

My computer broke and I can't afford to replace it, why is life so cruel.  I just want to play the new version when its out.  Is that so much to ask?

A week?!?! Meaning... I get DF for my BIRTHDAY?! (Well, it's the 13th.. but still!)

Okay, seriously, Toady... best birthday in years. Thank you, sir. Thank you. The earth, she shall be struck.

Yep, this thread is going to become unreadably spammed in a couple of days. Not, I suppose, that it matters, since there'll no doubt be a new dev thread once the release is out.

Welp, back to running my 2d version fortress into the ground. Man, tantrums were so much harder to control back then. Population 144... population 67 in two seasons.

I'm going to train an entire fortress in doctorin', and then get them to tantrum spiral.
What the version number on that? Might give it a try.

I believe the last 2d version was 023.130.23a (January 18 2007).

The 2d version was much harder than the current version is.

Exactly why I have decided to play it.

It also ran much slower. You'd think that it would be faster without that pesky z-axis, but noooo, apparently there were also a bunch of optimizations put in between then and now. I get like 15 FPS before I even start digging into the wall. It takes me seven or eight times longer just to strike the earth.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

I once got a Walmart gift-card from a friend for my birthday with like $9.56 or something.

Apparently he got a 15 dollar card from somebody, bought something, then gave the rest of the card to me. :P

My school holidays just started, and Toady tells us that DF2010 is going to be out in a week!

On the other hand, this is TERRIBLE, because I have to finish all my holiday homework before then to avoid it never getting done XD

Anyway, I noticed you can control titan and megabeast attacks now? That's pretty sweet! You could just go for a challenge and say that the moment you start, the forgotten beasts and stuff can start attacking =3

"This is a bit of a change of plan, since I was originally going to release for all operating systems at once..."  :'(

All right, I can wait a little bit longer. At least we know ahead of time.
