Oh spiffy.  I guess they will bite criminals to death by default them.   Instead of...waiting til their hammer gets dumped into the trash compactor first.

A 170 year old hammerer would be a terrifying thing in a fortress.

Or, he beats them repeatedly with his +Hammerer Tooth Scepter+

There's a scary thought: The Hammerer's weapon is wrought from the remains of the previous Hammerer. No, not scary, AWESOME!

On the forum is an image of a dwarf and dwarves. The dwarf is questioning. The dwarves are conspiring. This relates to the great Milk Conspiracy of 2010.

Beware the purring maggots. Not all milk is enriched.

To obfuscate the true nature of the Milkman. To protect the Milkman at all costs. To destroy all who would harm the Milkman, or threaten to reveal his secret objective.
I am the milkman. My employer has hired me to whitewash what went on here. I make sure no evidence is left of anything, except for milk. I cannot rest until I have made my final delivery.

It seems like we're going to hit 1,000 pages purely from people continually asking about whether milking works. :P

I'd make sweet monkey love to Footkerchief if it would let me know as much about this game as he knows.

That was also a complement.

I feel the need to acknowledge this but I have no idea how.  Moving on...

the more i think about it, milking would probably make the livestock industry broken. although Toady said he reworked butchering somewhat.

Literally every part of the food industry in DF is already broken, balance wise, so I don't see the issue here. The only way to solve it would be to rework almost every food item in the game into something inedible, and have a large number of those items then be required to make something edible.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.
This could be a handy way of teaching preschool children mathematics.

Milking must be fixed, as a consequence of soap being useful. You can make soap out of milk. QED.

(ok, it is a little less sure, but hey.)

2 easy fixes for food balance:
  1) food rots-no more giant timeless stockpiles
  2) dwarves eat more than seasonal

yes, yes, suggestionforumetc... its not that thought out and I'm sure it's been done.

The rotting solution is a good one, but having dwarves eat more often clashes with the existing craziness of the passage of time in DF. If dwarves ate even one meal a day, it would basically be the only thing they did. I think the best solution is to have them eat as often, but just eat more food when they do. Decreased farm output could also help here.
