Dwarves don't have swiss army knives. Dwarves have swiss army fists. They've got everything in them - from blacksmith hammers, to writing implements, to farming tools, to surgical equipment, to cutlery, etc...

If you think about it, it's no wonder they can only carry one thing at a time - there's just no more space in their hands!

~snip
looks like we will need a wa to kill zombe elephant at range.

That's what magma is for.

Ah, magma: is there anything it can't do? It's like the dwarven Swiss Army Knife.
This makes me wish we could fill steel buckets with lava to launched in a Catapult.

because if there's anything magma can't do, it's move quickly.  nothing says "flood the world with fiery doom" like taking about 4 years to do it.

well it might as well take a long time. No one's going to be around to see it afterwards, and fiery doom deserves proper appreciation.

At least, not until we get floating tiles. Then we can build a magma ship. Perhaps an entire floating fortress.

I like the "defend the fortress" command. I hate assigning my squads to patrol wherever trouble is.

I can already imagine the bugs that will result from so general a command.

Like, "start killing anyone not in the fortress, including guards"?

That, then they are to be killed cause they killed dwarves and are enemies now. Then the civil war bug kicks in.

Or the cats all form squads and start "Defending the fortress" from non-cat-owners.

That's not a bug! It's the inevitable end of your fortress, the cat uprising... catageddon!!!

Who was it that bet we would get to 1000 pages? Because it might be funny if we actually get there. More off topic stuff. Huya!

Pumptower up to ground+1 and you should be funnily surprised.
I prefer the little "bugs" that slip by, like carp being about as terrifying as HFS to most people.

I hope that the new release has at least one seemingly inncuous animal that's actually insanely dangerous.

Now that the screens are finalized, can we see pictures of them? I know that was a concern for you, Toady, back when they weren't final.

It's just one screen that's been finalized, the replacement for the current X menu.  The main military screen is much more complex, and the healthcare screen might not be finalized either.

Will this impact quickfort? I've got my whole new-release fortress plotted out already =(
