In addition to height, I believe weight contributes to size. So the optimal warriors, from a genetic point of view, would be freakishly tall and morbidly obese. This will likely change in the future, when metabolism gets more solidly implemented, but for now that's your best bet.

Of course, you could just draft only the biggest dwarves instead.
Is Frederik a very dwarvenly name? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potsdam_Giants

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.

Actually, the capital gamma (the weight/mass symbol) is a kilogram now, but we are still using the same symbol at this point.
Hurray, the first step on the long road of standardized measurements!
hopefully temps will get a redo as well

I'm sorry I haven't donated Toady, I feel bad for enjoying your game so, so much and not providing some kind of financial recognition. As soon as I don't have to live on mi goreng noodles and rice every day (I don't come from Asia) I will see what I can do. I don't see why donations should drop now that you are so close and are obviously putting a lot of effort into it.

Translation Party. Kinda like the Babelizer, but makes more sensible sentences. (Because it tries to use known word constructions in translating, instead of being as literal as possible) I chuckled at the 122km of the Dwarves, and the fact that it almost came off as if Tarn described himself as wide-bodied and very fat.

You put English in, you get nonsense out, via the Japanese language.
Don't try and put a large amount of text, or it breaks.

It's a website that will translate a sentence/phrase back and forth from English to Japanese until it doesn't change between translations.

For some reason I have an odd vision of the weird crazy super fat soldier dwarves for next release.

Urist FleshMountain uses defense curl!  Urist FleshMountain used rollout! It's super effective!  The goblin is flattened looney toons style!  Urist FleshMountain suffers a heart attack! Urist Fleshmountain is struck down!

We know your secret.

Also, metric system. For usability, probably the way to go. But I'd like to see dwarves measuring weight in elf skulls, volume of liquid by how many elves you could drown in it. The basic unit of distance would be how far apart an elf's limbs end up when you hit them exactly this hard with an adamantine hammer.

Edit: Currency value is based on how much you would have payed to see that merchant's face when he realised your scales were broken, and you needed a new set...

If 1Γ is now 1kg, will item weights now include fractions? For example, an average earring would be less than 10 grams, which would work out to 0.01Γ.

Or will 1Γ work out to 10g or so, just to keep things as integers?

One interesting thing that'll probably happen as a result of making things weigh as much as they really should is that caged large animals will become nearly impossible to move around - while a Dwarf is estimated to vary between 43kg and 122kg, a horse can be anywhere from 400kg to 1000kg, depending on breed. Catch a dragon in a cage near your entrance? Forget about dragging it back to your Animal stockpile - it'd take half a year. Perhaps smoothed floors could increase the rate at which dwarves can drag obscenely heavy things around...
