[40dx] Laptop keys and strange behavior
« on: January 20, 2009, 01:58:34 pm »

System: Dell Inspiron 6400 with Vista.

Trigger: Adjust the brightness of back light, or the volume of the speakers using Fn+Foo keyboard shortcuts.

Behavior: Every key press also registers as left arrow.

Work around: minimize window before changing volume or brightness.  Use a USB keypad to reduce chance of accidental key strokes.

What version?  Is it regular 40d, or one of the 40dX experimental versions?

Whoops

Version:  Currently observed in 40d9. Previously observed in other 40dX versions.  Will test under 40d and report.

Testing under "vanilla" 40d does not reproduce the bug.

I'm not sure I understand the querry, but with no keys pressed down it does not scroll to the left.

*bump*  I'm not going to make a thread about the same issue.  I just upgraded this morning from 40d to 40d9, and my HP dv9847ca laptop's keyboard and DF are not getting along, whereas vanilla 40d and it did.

If I try to use the media keys, then DF will interpret some of them as keypresses (volume up = b, vol down = c, mute = d, etc).  As well, if I press right, then down, then release down, with the arrow keys, right stops as well, which is rather annoying.  +,-,*,/ also don't work nearly as smoothly as they did in 40d, either.
