This post started me off in disgust 5 minutes before dinner, and ended me laughing uncontrollably 10 minutes after dinner. I am actually tempted to make maggot launchers JUST to sell on the black market now. Or it could be a biological weapon-anything that read the articles close enough should remember that the maggot mouthhooks make live meat dead for eating, so maggots eating only dead flesh is technically correct, but iffy.

Ugh, the thought of formaggio marcio brings back pretty horrible memories of marcetto. I dunno if this applies to all variations of the cheese (I'd imagine it does), but it's legal for you to make and consume it yourself, you're just not allowed to sell it (because of the larvae)...still, it's fucking horrible to think about. Apparently, for you boys though, the cheese is like viagra :P

Wow, that turned me off cheese AND sex. Thanks!
You're welcome. I await my GBE for services to the gene pool :-* Dame pushy; has a ring to it, don't you think? :P

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

The wrinkled old Sardinian farmer swore that the maggot cheese tasted so good. I worry about those people.

I'd worry about them if they didn't think it tastes fucking good. I mean, that shit has maggots in it and it's still eaten, it has to be the best thing ever

Anyone believing in aphrodisiacs should probably cleanse themselves from the gene pool though.

Oh absolutely, and considering that I can't possibly be the first bloke you've turned off sex in your reign of terror against all things attractive, I'm sure that GBE is wending it's way to you on the very wings of angels.

In fact, if you lock yourself away entirely-behind a nice triple-layer of brick wall, perhaps?-you might even earn a Dutchy. And I'd certainly offer you a kiss in return, but I'd be afraid all my teeth would fall out in sheer horror at the thought  ;D

I always wondered how the hell dwarves were milking maggots to make cheese. Now that question has been replaced with where are they getting the cheese they put the maggots in.

It is called dwarven cheese, so I guess they've been milking themselves. Combining maggots with dwarven boobie milk sounds so wretched it's awesome.

THere is a problem with your thought there. Half the time your Milker is going to be Male, isn't he? I'm not wanting to hear solutions to this. Really, really not.

A little off topic but my guinea pig died of Myiasis when I was young. Not a pretty sight, it had a colony of maggots living in it's ass and they ate her from the inside out while she was still alive. Gave me nightmares for weeks.
Imagine when dwarves can die from this disease from eating too much cheese.

Well, one thing about that cheese is, not only is it disgusting by itself (and I'm a hard one to disgust), but apparently, the bugs eat at you from the inside. So once you've choked down the hell-cheese-even if you're perfectly fine with the whole idea and experience-it's not really particularly good for you.

I've never understood this. You have teeth that are there for a reason. Chew the suckers up before they chew on you.

Oh, yeah. The people don't like the thought of eating bugs...  ::)

I wouldn't mind eating a bug now and then.

It's the thought of eating a writhing, jumping, mass of maggots, while they're at home.

Just a little bit too dramatic to make for a comfortable dining experience.

Point of interest that I haven't seen brought up.
This is, mainly, an italian cheese.
It is Illegal in the only place on the planet were people actually make it.

I'm sorry, but I have to say this.

You guys are all soft, eating maggot cheese really isn't all that bad.

Afterall, I'd rather eat maggots 1000x over than intestines *shudders*.

maggots have an intestinal tract too, so when you wat them you not only eat intestines, but the rest of the thing too.... sounds worse to me.

No, I think the cook would be in charge of sugar-coating the cows.

You are a lifesaver! Round and probably in tropical flavors.

Which foods use intestines? I've had haggis (stomach & stuff), but I can't think what uses intestines.

most of a maggot is intestinal tract. (if you include what passes for a stomach)

Hot dogs? Sausage? I know certain makers use intestines.
