My Hunter has been watching to much professional wreastling
« on: January 19, 2009, 06:43:37 am »

In order to have a decent amount of protection on my journey into a very dangerous area, i gave myself a hunter, he started with everything he was supposed to including a crossbow (which he's trained in) and bolts for it, and he's been set to use crossbow, but for some reason i can't seem to get him to use it, all he wants to do is wreastle animals to the ground and tear them appart. this is all fine an well but from what i've heard about the giant eagles i have, that doesn't work so well on them, any idea on why he isn't filling animals with holes, i've had plenty of achers before.

He probably ran out of bolts, check his quiver to see how many he's got. Crossbowdwarves go through a lot of bolts.

He doesn't have any bolts, but he should, not only that, but he won't even pick up his freaking crossbow, i know for a fact that i have a spare set of bolts and a spare crossbow lying untouched in their associated workshops, it's the first thing i checked.

Recruit him and unrecruit him. If that doesn't work, go and see if ANYTHING is forbidden.

Weapons and ammo should be in stock piles and if you only have metal or practice bolts(wooden or bone) make some of the kind you don't have.

This is a masterful image of your FPS and the HFS. The HFS is committing a depraved act on your FPS.

He may also have something stuck in his hands that stops him picking it up (military often end up dual weilding socks for some reason).  Check his inventory, dump anything in his hands, recruit him and set him to unarmed and no armour, let him wander for a little bit, them set him to leather armour and the crossbow again.  If that doesnt work and nothing is forbidden then you have got me stuffed.

Yes. Children are deadly.

What is it you say? Engravings or it didn't happen?

99% sure this is the problem. Meaning, I think this is how it works.

Hunters use the weapon they are assigned in the[m]ilitary tab. When you embark they are set to wrestle...if they had points in markdwarfship that may overcome it.

Spoilers don't work in signatures as you cannot put images in signatures. Or can you?
