Okay, Mujakwi was/is pretty cool. I love procedurally generated stuff (a large part of what I like about Noctis). I just wish there were more depth to it.

Ad Astra is amazing!  It's like Noctis meets X³

I love Noctis, kind of for the same reason I love Cantr II.  It's the idea behind the game itself, if that makes any sense.  Finding a planet that you KNOW nobody on the face of the Earth has ever seen before is pretty liberating.  They all use similar textures, but you'd actually be surprised at how different the landscapes, gravity, colors can be.  The procedural nature of the planets allows for some pretty crazy stuff, not seen in other games.

I actually like the graphics.  When you're playing the game, it feels like you're looking at one of NASA's Mars Rover images.  Sometimes you will see things that look man-made, like roads and ruins on planets.

I recommend playing the NICE version as it fixes a number of bugs, adds features, and even more aliens to discover.

Speaking of exploration games, anybody played Strange Adventures In Infinite Space?  Looks kind of cool, like a roguelike in space.

Strange Adventures in Infinite Space was disappointing.  You ultimately have very few chances to make meaningful decisions, and battles weren't that fun.  It didn't even feel much like exploration, either...

Somehow, I have to put it in the same category as Spelunky.  And when I was playing Spelunky, I was saying, "Wow, this is what SAIS could have been."  Different genre, but SAIS was TOO random, and wasn't fun.  Any danger that you got in, in SAIS, was usually not your fault--just a die roll...and when you did really well, it also wasn't your fault.

What about Weird Worlds: return to infinite space? Is it a sequel?

Huh... Not an exploration game I wanted. It's a nice arcade to kill an hour, not more. However for it's idea it's quite well-made. Randomness is not killing if you play it right, but some cool items like teleportating drive or a scanner for the whole sector are game-breakers.

If seen that game, but never played it.  Good for an hour though, eh?

Good like any arcade/pseudostrategy/pseudoRPG with RND as the main feature :). Nothing more, really.

SAIS is actually a kind of coffee break game. Space is more like a board game, you have a time limit (VERY short) and have to find the route that lets you visit the biggest amount of planets or cool things and then make it back home. If it wasn't for the occasional encounter of battle, the whole thing would last something like 1 minute. (just click on stuff and wait for the ship to get there, get "points", repeat until time limit explores). Note that time isn't real time, it's actually distance traveled factored with whatever "terrain" slows you down.

It's a game that's actually awesome as an "engine", it has so much potential to be something like Starflight or Star Control :-/ but instead it's like a game of tic-tac-toe to play during your lunch hour.

Here's something I just found.  Anybody heard of it, or played it?  Looks inspired by star control, but looks a little amateurish.

Well, it's almost like SAIS but with dialogues and options too choose.
Same "engage" between system, time limit again etc. But there're minimissions and various solutions at least, so it's more enjoyable.
