Reading through the "Remaining Item List", I found an entry regarding an "appointee" that handles weapon distribution. Now, disregarding the fact that I may have misread that, I think that is another job that will be added. A quartermaster. DF is awesome.

And there will be instructors too, though I don't know if that will actually be a totally new job.

Yeah I'm waiting to see on those. Maybe I should just ask Toady what new profession tags will be open to modders.

It probably hasn't been finalized yet.  He hasn't finished the doctor/quartermaster appointees, plus a ton of misc. entity positions.

Ah, you're right, there's still some stuff left in the Squads updates related to new positions. I should probably start figuring out the Quartermaster, at least.

In the current uploaded version, I get errors on a number of files that have forward rather than backslashes in the raws. graphics_creature_domestic_evil.txt is one.

Not sure if that's a Windows/UNIX problem, but most files work fine - there are only about 5 that need to be turned around.

If I could make Windows less tolerant, I would. Slashes vs backslashes causes me enough headaches at work. Wish I could beat some sense into IE while I was at it. Can you please post a list of the files?

I understand that you're undergoing some additional work before you release the next version... but would it be at all possible for this to be released as a bundle with the alpha releases? I really, really want to use this, but somehow, no matter what I do (overwriting from the zip files) however many times, I always end up with the game coming up into black squares...


Please, can you package this graphics with the main game alpha version such that I can play the game? :(

So there won't be a quick intermediate release just as a bundle.. :( I guess I have to wait a few more weeks before I can play the dwarf fortress. :( :( :(

I don't really have time to do anything intermediate and test it out, but there are a bunch of other helpful folk around. Keep checking back in case someone puts something together.

Hi, I tried to install your 'pack on my laptop (running Ubuntu 9.04) and found some errors.

DF loaded to the menu fine but when I loaded a game, it crashed giving an error message like this "Cannot find file raw/graphics/creature\other.bmp".

I fixed this by changing the textfiles in graphics to point to the right files by changing the backslashes to forwardslashes. However, only some of the files needed changing and I didn't encounter this error on my windows PC.

I don't know whether I got all of the files, but at present an unmodified version of your pack cannot be used in linux.

It is a very nice pack, though.

Let me clarify exactly what the error was: in the "raw\graphics\graphics_creature_other.txt" and a few others (including the savage_tropical file) had a backslash in the argument for FILE.

Example:
Code: [Select]
[FILE:creature\other.bmp]
Windows can handle the backslashes and forwardslashes fine, but linux will throw up an error if it ever tries to access the affected files (it cannot access them and then crashes).

The affected files:
graphics_creature_domestic_evil.txt
graphics_creature_other.txt
graphics_creature_savage_tropical.txt

To fix, change the backslash to a forward slash. It will still work with windows and will stop the linux errors.
I've checked all your files and these seem to be the only ones.
